It's such an infurating thing to try to explain to liberals here, that we've always been "that guy" and this is just the same shit but more blatant that we've been doing for ages and that this country is not salvageable and no mainstream politics will stop this

The way to understand this, I think, is that everybody knows that when Trump or Vance says "illegals" he's not talking about legal status, but about social desirability, and so people think that that distinction goes both ways.
Naming someone is not doxxing. They arenโt undercover. They arenโt intelligence agents overseas. This is outrageous - we are supposed to be a free Republic and these people want an authoritarian police state. Lawsuits should be filed & ranking Dems in Congress should act.

Let us all have the courage displayed by the residents of Minneapolis.
Police have arrived. Arrests seem imminent. The crowd chants โlet them prayโ and โMinnesota nice means prosecute ICEโ
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
Another friend put it to me like this: "ICE has made the classic Nazi mistake. They've invaded a winter people in the winter."
Omg. Iran killed 16,500 protesters and injured 330,000 in two days.
ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA A DAY OF TRUTH & FREEDOM
MINNESOTA: Friday is a statewide day of non-violent moral action and reflection. That means no work, no school, and no shopping โ only community, conscience, and collective action.
Plus, there will be a peaceful march and rally in downtown Minneapolis: iceoutnowmn.com
We have ~15 separate radio dispatches, one for each neighborhood, and dozens more for the suburbs/Saint Paul. Each dispatch/monitoring channel contains somewhere between 500 and 2000 people. At any given time there are probably a dozen mobile patrols and 100 on-foot observers in each neighborhood.
"Homeland Security refused to release more information, unless the tribe 'entered into an immigration agreement with ICE.'"
I don't even know what to say at this point except fuck ICE and fuck the settler colonial government of the so-called united states

Anyway the single best check on your espoused prescriptions for social change is whether you yourself are doing what you say others need to do. It's extremely clarifying and usually very humbling.
What historians (and other scholars do) is create knowledge. We should use that phrase more and talk about what it means. I think we don't, and it's part of why AI enthusiasts are confused when we don't readily agree that our work can be replicated/replaced by their products.
"The tribe had entered a contract to conduct feasibility studies and concept designs for ICE detention centers in the area. Tribal leadership railed against the decision by the Prairie Band LLC, as a violation of their values, and fired the board members responsible for the decision."
I had been searching earlier for a map of this sort.
One cannot help but notice exactly none of these locations are particularly close to the continental United States, nor are most of them on any course that would ever become close.

No. No. No. Waking up to the devastating news that Alice Wong has passed. I have no words yet, except to say that Alice was a powerful force for good in the world & I loved her. I posted the below just before her passing.
Black text on a yellow background - This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing. Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin. We need more stories about us and our culture. You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.
