Yes I believe it was. It has been recommended by many of my friends.

Slowly slowly I am getting there. There are just too many books π
I will add it to my very long list π. I am also listening to The Shadow King for Ethiopia which is quite good but also very long.
I really enjoyed it. I would agree though that it was a bit too long and took a while but I was still interested at the end.
I will report back π
I read The Awakening last year and I liked it very much. Never read Trollope am afraid. Maybe I should remedy this
Thailand was fabulous in every way. Did not read as much as I thought as was very busy but I did read 4 novels including The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese which is a chunky novel so not too bad.
Hello so what is everybody reading? I am just about to start The Colony by Audrey Magee which I have heard a lot of good things about.
I am not a massive re reader but I do love reading Jane Austen regularlyβ¦ obvs π
I am here β¦ late but here π
We are and yes we did. I will endeavour to be here tonight for #devonbookhour
I have not but had my eyes on a couple. Exciting times.
That makes me feel better π
Definitely.
I am very impressed you have them in year order. Mine are just everywhere and some have been on my shelf for at least 13 years as I have brought them from our old house but I will get to them eventually. Have to be in the right mood π
Just finished and it was weird and wonderful. Very much a womanβs book I think. This is about a young mother who transforms into a dog at night. This is about hormones and motherhood and misogyny and how women fall behind and need to find the rage to truly find themselves again.
Me too. First book I finished and started again straightaway as I could not bear to leave it. It is truly life-changing.
I loved it too though it took me a while to get into it. Absolutely stunning and clever and yes the hint of Possession (my second favourite novel of all time) was delicious. He strikes again
It has been epic: saw a wild elephant in the jungle and that has made my year π. Lovely food and beautiful people.
I am reading Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder: a slightly magic-realism novel about motherhood and madness. Think The Yellow Wallpaper for the 21st century
I adored this book: so beautifully crafted and gris a rare writer who writes women so well too.
Yes a longtime ago and loved it of course. Such a sweet gorgeous book. I also enjoyed The Dinner β¦ quite dark if I remember well.
Just rude π. Love George Eliot too to be fair. Still in Thailand so wonβt join you tomorrow (it will be 3am for me) but will be back the following week.
I loved it. One of my favourite books so far this year.
Love Lac Leman. You are so lucky to love there. π
It really was. Loved everything about it
We are in fact in Singapore first for 3 days then Bangkok then a few days trekking in the jungle not far from Pukhet and then in Kao Lak for a few days.
That is exciting.
On the plus side. I also got The Land in Winter for Christmas and adored it. So am I forgiven? π
I agree although I loved On Chesil Beach.
