And again, #DHS says there are 500 agents in #Minnesota. The numbers I can find for #OperationMidwayBlitz in Chicago last year are “a few hundred” or 200+.
Chicagoland is 2-3x the size of the Twin Cities. Minnesota still has over twice as many agents as Chicago did.
This is still an #Occupation.

The # of reports on Iceout.org are down, and anecdotally ICE is more in the suburbs and rural areas. But the population densities are much lower there, and so there are that many fewer people to *report* to Iceout.org and social media. #ICE is still active in #Minnesota. They’re just not as visible.

Craig and Omar were told that agents are now obligated to give badge number and/or names when asked, and that they’re no longer allowed to stage near schools, hospitals, and other sensitive areas, and that they can’t racially profile. 🧵
And at least the detainee areas are clean, so the new detainees won’t be in the *dire* conditions that were at Whipple earlier.
They were also told that new detainees will be held in county jails and other places actually designed with beds and medical facilities. Still AWFUL AND UNACCEPTABLE.
MN Congressional Reps Craig & Omar finally got into Whipple, and it seems Whipple is finally empty of detainees. I’m sure it won’t stay that way, they just got the detainees out 4 this, but it’s a step in the right direction. They say MN is down to 500 fed agents, from 3000+.
