Like the risk of PC death, but your RPG has lengthy chargen?
Easy. If a PC gets killed mid session, give them a lethal wound instead. They can still contribute (at penalty), fully participate in RPing as they shrug it off as a mere fleshwound.

UK game writer/nds we have a union!
The WGGB provided invaluable support when I was made redundant. A rep was in all my meetings and briefed me before and after. While everything was above board in my case, I did not have to go through it alone.
As a freelancer, they vet my contracts.
Interestingly, it feels like the nerdiest IPs are the ones least likely to go the 5e route; Discworld, Rivers of London, The Laundry, Judge Dredd, Luther Arkwright etc.
I suspect this is because they're the most likely to have IP holders that actually care about the RPG.
So sorry. I still remember, years ago, being at my grandparents with my dog, my grandpa, leaning back tired and stroking him, calling him by the name of his own dog of 40 years before. We never forget them.
