Jaroslav Brůžek at the SAP conference
It is with deep sadness that the SAP announces the passing of Jaroslav Brůžek, Professor at the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague and Emeritus Research Director at the CNRS.
The scientific community has lost a pillar; the SAP has lost a dear friend.
Deeply saddened by the passing of Jaroslav Brůžek, a remarkable biological anthropologist and leading expert in sex estimation based on the pelvic bone. He was a mentor and my gateway to French and Czech academia. His loss leaves a lasting void.

Finalement, je questionne les pratiques funéraires avec les étudiants, puis on passe à la pratique avec de l'archéologie expérimentale.
Le bûcher est une structure éphémère dont on ne sait rien archéologiquement, de fait parce qu'elle n'était pas construite pour être préservée. Les représentations grecques et romaines sont les exemples les plus anciens que l'ont a, mais très stéréotypés.
Ça me permet d'introduire ce qu'est une crémation, qu'elles éléments, nous contemporains, projetons sur ce qu'était une crémation dans le passé, et surtout d'accentuer ensuite sur les méthodes de construction de bûchers, leurs efficacités supposés, et les images d'Épinal.
