Was it a choice or was it murder? The curious case of the Nannup Four In July 2007, Simon Kadwill, Tony Popic, Chantelle McDougall and her five-year-old daughter Leela vanished from an isolated WA town. Chantelle's parents have spent the better part of 20 years trying t...

What a story. I assume they're dead as it's many years since any "signs of life" as the police describe it. Awful for the parents/grandparents.

The government is trying to get people out but can't control how civilian airlines are running their operations. I think too many travelling Australians have a "the government will help me" mentality. I am surprised at the number of people who travel internationally in such a fraught world.

The coroner's finding was "drowning due to or as a consequence of a dingo attack."

Families aboard Middle East flights criticise DFAT's Iran response Flights from Middle Eastern travel hubs are arriving in Australia half-empty despite thousands of Australians remaining stranded in the region.

I have my issues with this government, but some of these people are really annoying. This expectation that the government "should do something" when travellers get into strife overseas is entitlement plus. Travelling isn't without risk, particularly transiting through the Middle East.

How dingo behaviour on K'gari changed in years before Piper James's death Piper James's tragic death is the third recorded fatality from a dingo attack in Australia. Here is a brief history of dingo management and interactions on K'gari.

The current Queensland government doesn't care about the dingoes. The culling will continue every time there's an incident. This young woman's death is very sad, but K'gari is dingo habitat. Humans are visitors to their island.

Live: Lebanon, Bahrain under fire as US to 'sustain fight for as long as it takes' Israeli forces have entered southern Lebanon and issued a wideranging evacuation warning for southernΒ Beirut, causing panic in the capital.

The context of language. Russia invaded Ukraine. Correct language. Israel "enters" or "pushes into" Lebanon. Journalists controlling the narrative and perception. Makes me livid.

Minister's legal bill revealed in parliament as topping $300k Tasmanian Racing Minister Jane Howlett spent $303,800 of public money on legal fees "in the execution of her official duties", questioning in parliament reveals.

So we don't know what these fees were for? If Tasmanian taxpayers foot the bill, then the government should disclose the full story. #politas

Perhaps the police should look to see if there's a connection between Williams and the thieves who stole his card data. Maybe it wasn't "stolen" after all.

I was quite happy with the GP I saw yesterday. My first appointment with her. A young Iranian female doctor. I have a chronic blood condition and am under the care of a haematologist at the RHH, so I need a regular GP. My previous GP stopped practising.

I paid $60 out-of-pocket for a short GP consultation yesterday. This was in the Hobart CBD. I can't source a GP in my suburb as their books are closed to new patients. Finding a new GP who doesn't have closed books is half the battle. Once found, there's little choice but to pay up. #auspol #politas

Minister decries questioning over election message as 'misogynist attack' Tasmania's racing minister has attempted to bat away Labor questioning over what her office knew about an apparent breach to election caretaker conventions as "nothing but a misogynist attack".

How on earth is relevant questioning on what she knew and when she knew it "misogynistic?" Talk about clutching at straws. #politas

Blame diagnostic inflation for the NDIS’ $10b Autism bill Because diagnosis has become the gateway to funding, the National Disability Insurance Scheme requires redesign, not administrative reform.

Basically, what is being said here is that those diagnosed level 2 autistic, like my daughter, should be removed from the NDIS. The author may be a professor and a clinical psychologist, but I am the mum of an adult daughter on the spectrum. I have lived experience, 35yrs of it.

'Can't justify it': Why some Tasmanian nurses won't come back home Tasmania needs more nurses, but lower wages and less opportunities for career growth remain barriers for enticing health workers to return to their home state.

Why Donald Trump is threatening to end all US trade with Spain over Iran war Spain's Prime Minister Pedro SΓ‘nchez has doubled down on his criticism of the military actions of the US and Israel in Iran, just a day after Donald Trump threatened to end all trade with Spain.

PM Sanchez isn't a timid, obsequious toady who quakes if Trump farts. Unlike Albanese, who bends the knee, if Trump blinks. #auspol

"It is difficult for people outside the tent to understand." So very true. Our daughter is level 2 autistic and the NDIS has been a big help. She has a certain level of independence but will always need support of some kind. What it must be like for this family, I can't imagine.

Stranded Aussies pay thousands in desperate dash home from overseas Australian travellers stuck overseas take extraordinary measures to get home amid the escalating war in the Middle East.

When you travel anywhere, you do so at your own risk. The government will do what it can, but it isn't incumbent on the government, i.e., the taxpayer, to bail you out. Overseas travel these days is a fraught exercise, and travellers need to accept that.

Albanese government rejected advice on Tasmanian salmon farming impact before passing pro-industry laws FOI documents show ministers ignored recommendation for fresh inquiry that could have reduced or paused farming

There’s disregard for the environment here for sure, but a darker implication is disregard for democracy, truth & science. Labor knew perfectly well what the advice was when they moved new legislation but said nothing. Cowards. #auspol

It was the Liberals who started the department in the first place. They've been in power for 12 years, so they have nobody else to blame for the fiscal cliff we've fallen off. The government must raise revenue. Public service cuts won't be nearly enough to fix the mess. #politas
