I miss the music of my homeland.
A US sub sank an unarmed Iranian ship that was part of an exercise in Indian territorial waters and left the survivors to drown. All kinds of international laws were broken. An Indian statesman called out both Trump and Hegseth for war crimes. They should be labeled as criminals.
So, he’s waiting to see who will swear fealty the hardest.
If there are no girls, they can’t grow up to be women that have their rights taken away. Bingo-bango, women’s rights emergency, resolved.
My two pieces of life advice:
1. Read a children’s book as an adult; it helps reconnect to a child’s sense of joy and whimsy. (I suggest Winnie the Pooh)
2. Wait at crosswalks. It’s a reminder that it’s ok to stop for a minute or two in the middle of the day; you’ll still get where you’re going.
I remember when Timelines were chronological. Now, no matter what App I open I am subjected to a wibbly wobbly timey liney. And I hate it.
While true I think the more poetic phrasing should have been, “It’s just so disgusting to listen to the President waxing poetically about the drapes he’s buying while there are dead Americans in flag draped coffins…”
Trump wanted an exotic wife. I imagine he never let her take any language classes or work to integrate a more local dialect into her speech. Pure conjecture of course, but it feels like him to force her into remaining foreign sounding for his own desire.

Trial run for how close they can pull a voter purge off before the Fall. They’ll get the SAVE Act through just in time to voter purge and disenfranchise millions of people. Even if he doesn’t manage to straight out takeover the election, they’ll use this as a model.

And I’m not saying, don’t pressure politicians. I’m saying it’s hard to pressure a politician when you end up with an authoritarian fascist in power, because the normal politician wasn’t pure enough for you to vote.
I’ve already seen “I won’t vote for another liberal like Harris.” And “Harris didn’t denounce Palestinian genocide, I won’t vote for someone like that.”
When you think about voting, think about how much attention Palestine is getting now that we have armed federal agents roaming our own streets.
Republicans consistently hammer the idea of rampant voter fraud, but other than the occasionally elderly person, or person that didn’t know they were registered in two districts. They never have any evidence. That’s of course because there is none, and they know it. But fear is a powerful tool.
The ‘abolish ICE’ door is cracked open and every one of us needs to push and keep pushing.

While the focus for many Americans today is Super Bowl Sunday, I am in the middle of Corner Gas Sunday. A day where we watch Corner Gas all day, this year with Chili Cheese Dogs for lunch that even Oscar is eyeing up. I hope @brentbutt.bsky.social approves.
I made this Change.org petition 5 years ago. And now on Super Bowl weekend while The Chiefs look to relocate from Mo to Ks, I think it’s a good time to revisit the idea of changing their iconography from the indigenous version of “Chiefs” to the Firefighter version.

Seeing the strength of Midwesterner spirit and community coming from the people of Minneapolis really makes me hope I can move to there someday. (I wanted to beforehand, but doubly so now).
