The research is so clear about what the effects of this copycat behaviour is. It's inexplicable why political leadership is so resistant to evidence-based political strategy.

Precies. Als een democratisch midden (dat bereid is te besturen) onderling geen alternatieven biedt, komen de middenpartijen gezamenlijk symbool te staan voor de status quo.
Kiezers die ontevreden zijn over de status quo, vinden de alternatieven dan alleen nog bij niet-democratische partijen.

I would welcome this. I have loved EPSA conferences for the indepth feedback, which is much rarer at ECPR, but I do miss the diversity of perspectives, topics and methods. Even if my own work is more quantitative based, I believe new theoretical and diverse empirical insights are crucial for my work
