Thinking about this, it depends on the course as to how many riders are left and the type of finish. Some parcours are going to have a larger field & others much slower uphill
I think the idea is to either remove them or not have the last 5km like this. Some of the riders need to take responsibility too. There was some very bad riding - it is often someone else that gets hurt
I've seen U16's be less choppy than that last 5km
