Socks are done, and the thicker cotton/acrylic yarn reminds me of early 90’s slouch socks. The color break is at a weird spot but that’s as far as I could get with the yarn I had on hand. The color shift is hidden by the strap on these slightly too wide shoes, which was a fun discovery.

I also agree. I knit socks on 2.5 circular/2.0 mm dpns and I use a toothpick as a cable needle. These stitches definitely look smaller.

I started making sourdough last year and I think it’s worked out great. I keep my starter in the refrigerator, mostly ignored until I want to use it.

Thanks- I can’t really answer credibly with regard to durability. I made that pair a year ago and gave them to my niece who lives 2000 miles away. No idea if she wears them 😄 Personally, I am a heathen who prefers to be barefoot so any yarn will likely last a decade. I only wear them with boots.

Knit ankle socks made from self striping cotton blend yarn in denim blue, oatmeal, and chocolate brown. The socks are positioned one on top of the other with heels on the left and toes on the right. The bottom sock has a blue toe and the top has a brown toe.
I used cotton/acrylic for this pair and I thought they turned out fine. My biggest reservation with the yarn I’m using is that it is fine, not fingering, and that makes them look and feel rustic, but the stitch design is more delicate.

Thanks! They are soft and squishy and seem to stretch and bounce back so far, but we’ll see once I’ve knit further. I’d love it if the yarn works out because it was inexpensive and would make a good choice for gifts to my vegan family and friends.

It was under $4 for the 50g ball, which makes it worth a shot to me to see how it works up.

Last night I cast on Florilegium Socks 🧦 which are the first pattern in the 2026 Golden Honey Sock Club by Lauren Rad.
I am trying out Harmony Cotton by Yarneverse for the first time, a #2 fine weight 60/40 cotton acrylic blend. Pattern is great- still undecided about 🧶

Red knit hat, melt the ice pattern, shown blocking on a pasta plate which is resting on a sage green towel. The hat has a large section of ribbing and a braided tassel on top.
Red knit melt the ice hat is blocking on a sage green towel while a black and white cat supervised. The cat is seated above and to the right of the hat and is looking up at the camera with greyish green eyes.
Had to give my wrists a rest from Tunisian crochet… melt the ice hat is blocking.
Also, Sylvester is “helping” me knit again. This is week three and he seems to have decided to stick around.

I also think TL Yarn Crafts has a lot of great stitch tutorials on her channel, here is a quick one-

How I crochet multicolor TUNISIAN SMOCK Mermaid Scale stitch! Gorgeous for blankets and sweaters!
YouTube video by Tania Skalozub
I saw a short version of the smock stitch on TikTok that sparked my interest in Tunisian:

The tutorial I followed is this one for honeycomb stitch, which reminds me a little of knitting 1x1 rib, but easier because the return pass goes so fast:

I’ve been fixated on knitting the past couple years because I feel like there is so much I still haven’t tried. I actually got my interchangeable Tunisian hooks because they are threaded the same as my knitting circulars. Works great for picking up arm & neckline stitches.

Comforting to know I’m not alone, but I wish it wasn’t the case for either of us. I’ve experimented with a few position tweaks and it took some stress off my right wrist, only for my left wrist to act up.

Tunisian crochet project in blue, brown, and pale yellow acrylic blend yarn. The honeycomb stitch has unique look and bumpy texture on the bottom. Working loops are on a gold hook and cable which is curved to show front and back of what will be a baby blanket.
First attempt at Tunisian crochet. I didn’t realize how much more crochet stresses my wrists/arms than knitting. I do kind of love the texture though. 🧶

A black and white cat with green eyes rolls around on a grey hand knit sweater that is pinned on white blocking mats with purple and white blocking pins.
Start of melt the ice hay, knitted with wine red yarn. About 1 inch of 1x1 ribbing completed, on circular interchangeable shorties. Ball of yarn and project are pictured on a greyish brown wood tabletop.
When I say this cat is fully obsessed with this grey wool sweater, I’m not kidding.
New cast on: the viral melt the ice hat in stash 🧶, a wool acrylic blend.

Thank you! Second sleeve complete so now I just need to finish the length. I wanted to do the arms first to make sure I had enough yarn.

Interchangeable shorties knitting needles shown in their case, useful for small diameters like necklines, sleeves, and hats. Not quite small enough for socks. Needles are 2” long, aluminum, and each pair is a different color to help identify size. Missing from set are purple 5mm needles as they are in use.
No, they are interchangeable shorties. I think the brand is Hoowen, which meant nothing to me. They are threaded the same as my standard interchangeable needles (also not a name brand) which is a big plus.

Getting ready to pick up second sleeve of My Favourite Things Knitwear #Sweaterno33 using Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Dove Heather. Nice that this project works for both #showmeyourknits grey week and #wipwednesday

The stray cat that I call Sylvester is enjoying a brief respite inside while it’s so cold outside. Today it discovered my current WIP in grey wool.
I hope I love it as much as the kitty does!

A black and white stray cat lays on a greyish green bath towel on top of a hardwood floor. The cat has pale green eyes and is looking up at the camera with front legs extended. Towel is mussed up from it kneading. A white cat brush rests next to its hind legs.
Meet Sylvester. A stray that started appearing sporadically on our porch and deck about 4 years ago. Super sweet. This month it made a bed in some boxes in the garage. I decided if temps went below zero I’d bring it inside, but then it vanished. Until today.

Back of Olive green knit cat sweater which features a letter B knit in garter stitch. Shown on plain cream colored background.
Tabby cat modeling his new sweater. Photo taken from above and behind to show the large letter B that has been knit into the back. Cat is laying on a beige chair with his legs tucked under him.
Tabby cat seated on a beige recliner with his white paws out in front of him. He wears an olive green sweater which compliments the color of his eyes.
The back of the sweater features a letter B for Bowser. 🧶 is Buvemu Cloud Touch Baby, a blend of anti-pilling acrylic and bamboo. It has great stitch definition, so even though I don’t love acrylic, it was perfect for this project. Used just over 1/2 skein.
