This photo shows a print out of a John Connolly quote about history and a printout of a David Lynch quote. John Connolly states: βI was curious about that idea of history layering itself imperfectly, and leaves these kinds of bubbles, and that you can breach that crust, and that all of this stuff seeps out. These kinds of historical bombs, these little ticking devices that are filled with pain and loss and hurt that has never been recognised and never been dealt with, and how that then might seep into the present day world.β David Lynch states: βYouβve gotta get your butt in gear and do it. And donβt take no for an answer. Translate those ideas to cinema, or to a painting or to whatever. And figure out a way to get it done.β
I love research. Love everything about hunting down information & formulating an argument. Absolutely hate the admin *surrounding* research though. Itβs so stressful. Havenβt wanted to cry this badly since I was in my 20s. Taking inspiration from @jconnollybooks.bsky.social & David Lynch

Yes Reform, people who can't have kids and have suffered from everything that entails have had it far too easy. Utter fucking scum.
EXT: Day. The grave of Noel Edmonds. A figure lies face down in the freshly dug soil, sobbing inconsolably.
CAPTION: GREYFRIARS BLOBBY.
One of the biggest warning signs for me when it comes to new tech, itβs to see whether the people creating and selling it, use it themselves or would allow their own children to use it. AI is only good for pattern recognition. Itβs not a human substitute
@daraobriain.bsky.social I desperately need @daraobriain.bsky.social to know that the Irish have a history of spinning people around to get them going again. Check out Dr Hallaranβs Circulating Swing #Cork #StandUpInDerry
Lovely to see you all last night. It was a great show in a lovely venue and great to see where Alanbrooke hall has led to.

I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud
Oh Lordy noβ¦
π¬ I mean, if he referred to it as the very very end of the Elizabethan period Iβd kind of give him some grace. But three years does not constitute βthe early 1600sβ.
No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβbecause the person felt she did didnβt deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
It's going to be "but helmets are good!" all day from people who don't cycle and won't read anything about it, isn't it?
People who'll tell you the Dutch and the Danes etc got it all wrong and they should listen to the guy who is thinking about it today for the first time
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeareβs Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Awww man, not John Virgo. Whoβs going to cry βwhereβs the cue ball going?β when the snookerβs on now?
Sorry to hear this. Kevin looked like he was a great dog.

Two bullfinches sit in a barren cherry tree. This is the first time Iβve seen these birds in my garden after living here for over twenty years.
Not a huge thing but it actually is to me. After living for decades in my home, I have never seen bullfinches in the garden and this morning I wake up to find two in my cherry tree. Two!!
Remember, if someone tells you that your dream of having a bookshelf with a rolling ladder is "unrealistic", they were never your friend to begin with.
