Council is now intending to build it to allow completion to align with the opening of Parakiori. Hopefully it actually gets built this time!

I was in Cody’s meeting with staff. My take is: the council customer support management software is not fit for purpose, particularly the integration with SnapSendSolve.
Banning someone for providing *too much* feedback is the wrong solution here
Why shouldn't issues like pot holes, broken footpaths, smashed pedestrian rails, dumped rubbish, broken street signs, broken next-bus screens etc be reported? Council staff are free to prioritise them or ask for more resources
By default council will not update SSS reporters on progress. You can respond to their "We've received your request" email to choose to "receive updates" but it never seems to work. Definitely a lot of room for improvement in the systems they use

Now that Main Nth Rd has been handed back to the Christchurch City Council I’m keen to see it redesigned to turn over more road space to pedestrians, and in particular add more pedestrian crossings.

Wheels to Wings: DEFERRED
Though Wheels to Wings will be built for a very small section, just to connect the Northern Line and Nor'West Arc Cycleways, and a small amount of safety improvements
Council votes to delay wheels to wings again, after previously voting to approve it around two years ago. What a waste of time and effort and money.
Debate is underway! Cr Jake McLellan and Deputy Mayor Cotter are pushing Option 4 for Wheels to Wings, which builds the cycleway about half way. Cr Templeton is also pushing an amendment for the Te Aratai College cycleway being included in the Annual Plan.

Transporting NZ published a report which "produces evidence to counter the ideology that rail can be a serious competitor to road freight in NZ" they are not who should be asked about the importance of the new ferries being able to take freight trains. www.transporting.nz/press-releas...

Tomorrow, the Council will make a decision on the Wheels to Wings Cycleway (once again, possibly for the fourth time). There are eight options, with the likely result being a deferral to varying extents and limited construction. Keep an eye out for our coverage!

That includes a 0m walkable catchment from the edge of the city centre zone at the north end of Victoria St at Bealey Ave. Surely that doesn't meet the requirements of the NPS-UD.
Today Christchurch city councilors voted to allow more housing in outer suburbs like Hornby and Belfast but not just outside of the four aves. They limited the city centre walkable zone upzoning to inside the four aves as the IHP surprisingly recommended.
