Saw a westbound CPS cruiser a few weeks back, so it is a thing…

Oh I’m certain citizens of the Duchy of Alberta will have to get visas everywhere 🫠

I look around me and I notice a trend with friends and family in their 40s stopping or cutting back as well. Older gen still drinking away…

Beer, wine and spirits sales fall as Canadians cut back on alcohol, Statistics Canada says | CBC News Canadians are buying less alcohol, leading to the largest annual drop in beer, wine, spirits and cider sales in the 20 years Statistics Canada has been tracking the data, according to the agency's new...

I mean, some young people are shifting over for health reasons, but I'm sure a bigger chunk are just not even entertaining alcohol/alc subs: going out is expensive.

Same reason young people aren't driving or delaying getting a license til later: it's expensive www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Now that I'm reliving the trauma again, I think I actually did trek up with hybrid bike. Fun!

Of course I 311’d it. 2018… feels like yesterday.

I dunno how winter cyclists keep at it after all these years of this crazy 🫠

Ha... I dunno the calibre of the snow clearing these days, but I had vivid memories of biking up the road in the winter because the snow-covered (city-owned) sidewalk was rarely cleared. Dunno how I did it for 2 winters.

And there's the small matter of using some common tools to take them apart, which kinda defeats the purpose of a bike rack. And I know, I know... ULINE

Hadn’t done the 19 St NW crazy hill since I bike commuted from the SW inner city to the U. I can’t imagine it’s gotten any better in the winter 🫠 #yycbike

In the meantime, I think we're done with the snow accumulation for this season.

And if today's chinook doesn't get it, safe to say the +17 weather tomorrow should do the trick, followed by a little rain.

Spring is almost here...

A covered walkway could also do the trick for not too much $, coupled with that elevated crosswalk

Yeah, Red's Diner in Ramsay here has the same issue... there's a nice, big drain, however, the whole adjacent street is in the shade, so you're outta luck unless you move the snow outta there/wait for a proper warming.

The city shoulda cut its losses, taken the PR hit with the Maple MAGA folks and moved on... but instead they're gonna keep slowly peeling away that bandage. Smart.

Yup, my take as well. Like a broken record: this is why govt costs so much 😂

For sure, however, the city should never have let a private operator own a building on public land. It would likely be cheaper to tear down and build new.

With the popularity of Edworthy, sounds like a golden opportunity to build a proper facility on the S side, with paid, paved parking (ahem 😜)

Angel's Cafe moving north of Calgary after feeder main work forces closure | CBC News Angel's Cafe in Edworthy Park is resuming operations in a city near Calgary, after being forced to close its doors earlier this year to make way for replacement work on the Bearspaw feeder main.

The silly convoy theatrics of the operator aside, why is the city wasting resources to placate this business with this sweetheart deal? If you get into a lease there are risks involved. Moving, storing and moving again... yowza that's expensive www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

For a personal finance story, I'm looking to speak with Canadians about transportation costs + housing. Did you buy a more affordable house farther out, then find vehicle costs + travel time added up? Or are you considering transportation in a house hunt? DM or email cailynn.klingbeil@gmail.com Thx!
