our university, which hasn't created any guidance around AI except for admin pushing it & faculty threatening expulsion for using it, wasted no time in prohibiting anthropic on campus after the government fallout. fascinating how fast academia responds to the government but not its own students
A cartoon from The Onion of a man pressing his face up against a window saying "Yes...ha ha ha...YES!" while wearing a black shirt that says SICKOS on it.
landsman haters in ohio right now
happy 14th anniversary to all who observe
we're working on rewriting ours and I used this document as inspiration - after requesting feedback we received a comment that said the word diverse should be "eliminated entirely," because we should "focus on amplifying materials that support the university's academic programs instead"......
I ran a high stakes betting ring at my babysitterβs where weβd place bets on which legends of the hidden temple team would win using fruit snacks
fighting shit like βtrans people must turn in their documents at midnight and if people catch you using the restrooms, they can sue you for $1000β is actually pretty popular! (but doesnβt mean much if you donβt back up βwe will protect trans rightsβ when you end up near the levers of power.)

cities will take away every free space and service from young people and then complain and police them when they have nowhere else to go
me (posting on the neopets role playing forum): itβs actually funny how this has become such an unserious space for neopians. itβs losing neopoints, will never be relevant, and is seen as a joke among the neopets battledome forum

"Although Greenville was not the first library system to integrate in SC, it was the first to do so as a result of public demonstrations by the Black community."
A new IMLS press release! "The Institute of Museum and Library Services Awards $4.1 Million to Support the Trump AI Action Plan!" β including a project at the University of OK that "integrate[s] Generative AI into childrenβs maker-based learning experiences in public libraries." Start 'em young!
tweet by Catherine na Nollag (@cafernblue): "i still think my favourite thing that's ever happened to me on the internet is the time a guy said 'people change their minds when you show them facts' and I said 'actually studies show that's not true' and linked TWO sources and he said 'yeah well I still think it works'"

I donβt know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is
Former Institute of Museum and Library Services leaders from both political parties expressed concern that the agencyβs new grant guidelines could fund projects that encourage a more constrained or distorted view of American history.
β...he was having similar discussions with Joscha Bach, an AI researcher. In one exchange, Bach told Epstein that Black children in the United States βhave slower cognitive developmentβ and βare slower at learning high-level concepts.ββ
Why are people shocked everyone we donβt embrace this field?

100% convinced HR was invented to purposefully muddle every administrative function in order to quell any worker attempts to do anything but work
The update here left me weepy with how full of love it is. If you can help with end of life expenses, here's where and how.
This is why expanded IMLS funding isn't really a good thing under the current regime--funding is the tool through which they will seek to push and control a narrative that will unmake and disassemble our libraries under the fascist image of trump's big government plan that we likely will never undo.
I wrote about some of the unreasonable requests I've gotten as a candidate for library jobs, and how employers might make the interview process less dehumanizing. acrlog.org/2026/02/05/m... π
SB1 in Ohio does all of this and prohibits faculty from going on strike. It's a laundry list of ways to push faculty out the door. It was passed with zero voter input.

I love trains but when theyβre choo chooing so loudly before 5am itβs like, ok we get it
