BioEmu is now on @science.org ! The revised version includes an upgraded model and makes a lot of MD simulation data internally generated at MSR available to the public. This took a lot of firepower from us in the last two years.

A scheme of chemico-biological evolution of protein-RNA interactions. It started about 4.5 billion years ago with prebiotic monomers, went through peptides, oligonucleotides, and simple complexes, reaching proteins and RNA at about 4-3.7 billion years ago.
New publication out on the evolution of protein-RNA interactions. Put together with KlΓ‘ra HlouchovΓ‘ (@sciencecharles.bsky.social) during a lovely Czech spring.

the magic growing/shrinking GTP/GDP switch lies in the differential ability to bend out of plane and hold on neighbours.
Alone you go faster, together we go further.

Yean Ming Chew and I wrote doi.org/10.1042/BST2... about MT lattice switching. We discuss evidence that protofilament-level structural switching is ancient and fundamental and conserved; and that tubulation creates new allosteric interfaces that operate on essentially the same structural switch.

Chaperonin TRiC within human cells. The left panel displays a representative 3D map from a tomogram illustrating the spatial distribution of open and closed TRiC complexes in human cells. The top right panel highlights the interaction of PDCD5 with the CCT3-1-4 subunits of the open TRiC complex. The bottom right panel shows the closed TRiC complex forming clusters of two particles.
Do not miss our latest #cryoET work! π΅οΈ Xing et al. present the dynamic architecture of TRiC in human cells! The study of this protein-folding chaperonin opens the door to understanding its dysfunction in diseases like cancer and neurodegeneration π§ π§ͺ #teamTOMO @becklab.bsky.social
