Premier Ford was in Barrie for a photo op to help further his and Mayor Nuttall's harmful narrative on PWUD and experiencing homelessness. Residents of this encampment told me neither man stepped foot inside the encampment or spoke with any residents. They used it as a backdrop for their photo op.

There was no encampment tour, just a photo op for Ford and Nuttall outside the encampment to further benefit their harmful narrative. We provide support to this encampment and residents told me that neither one stepped foot in the encampment or spoke to anyone living there.

My grieves with and for this family.

I was grateful to be panelist and a part of this informative and insightful discussion. Lived Experience Matters!

It is hard not to be cynical when so many who deserve this apology will never get to hear it but we can't lose hope. Our children deserve this apology as much as we do.

In 2018, the Senate did a study on Canada's post-war adoption practices, and 4 recommendations were made. The first is that a public apology be issued within one year of the report's release.
We are still waiting for that apology and for the other recommendations to be acted upon.

Yesterday I was at the encampment to witness and document what was taking place. It was heartbreaking to bear witness to but we needed to be there.
We will continue to show up to challenge the false narrative that people are refusing housing. No one refufed housing! A SHELTER BED IS NOT HOUSING!

I spoke with Pam yesterday about the atmosphere at the encampment and she said it's wasn't goid. People are tired and scared. Some have been evicted multiple times this year each time adding to trauma and a feeling of hopelessness.
