I fought for safer Toronto streets after my friend was killed five years ago. Now Doug Ford is undoing that work Premier Doug Ford and Transportation Minister Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria are actively dismantling the very infrastructure that so many of us fought to put in place.

I’ve encountered this in the wild. Apparently, we shouldn’t have a RapidTO on Dufferin because of the potential for street racing! And this opinion came from a person running one of the community gardens at Dufferin Grove… the need for free parking outweighs the need to reduce emissions, I guess.

There’s so much room for bus lanes and bike lanes if you take street parking off arterials.

All of Toronto's speed cameras are gone. How did we get to this point? | CBC News Toronto's speed cameras may be gone, but this time there are no mysterious vandals wielding power tools, no blurry suspect photos and no police investigation.

Is there any more depressing story in urbanism than the fact that people kept cutting down speed cameras in Toronto, and then the premier just… agreed with them and banned speed cameras across the province?

It honestly makes me so mad.

article headline: toronto proposes over 20 km km of new bike lanes, bypassing provincial veto

narrowing car lanes is a good way to force low-speed streets in addition to a way to provide bike lanes without getting caught in the province's stupid legislation.

bike on, toronto. the province can try, but this is a city that walks, bikes, and takes transit in huge numbers and that won't change.

Cutting the Dupont bike lane is a huge blow. There are so many new condos and even more stores that would benefit from it. As it is now, I hate being on Dupont, avoid it at all costs on my bike, and fear for the lives of other cyclists who brave the journey. Words cannot express my disappointment.

Matt Elliott: Without acknowledging hard truths, Toronto’s traffic czar isn’t likely to get very far It’s probably good that this new position will come with a handsome salary because this traffic czar will be given an impossible task. There’s no solving Toronto traffic, writes Matt Elliott.

The plain truth:

"There are too many cars + not enough roads. Absent a radical reform like a congestion charge similar to NYC β€” where a price on driving causes people to look to alternatives β€” there’s no way to reverse the trend." Right on @graphicmatt.com #onpoli
