Republicans are in fact worse but my blue state leaders also almost all love cops and troops and Israel, cooperate with ICE to disappear people, hate the homeless, love rich developers, could give a shit about trans people.

cannot stress enough that "separate the art from the artist" was meant for private individuals reconciling the art they love with its flawed creators and not meant for the ceo of a company driving a dump truck of money up to a bigot's front porch

For the same $6 trillion cost, you could crush child poverty with a child allowance and free childcare, fix unemployment insurance, do paid family, sick & medical leave, massively boost ACA subsidies, and eliminate child uninsurance with Medicare for Kids.

This is, unfortunately, the logical & inevitable endpoint of where Democrats have been for two decades now. Obama, HRC, & Biden already had decided that we can never reverse any GOP tax cuts & <raise> taxes on anyone under $400K in income. πŸ‘‡ is sadly just the next step in defunding our polity.

The obvious example here is Elon Musk. Musk is an explicitly white nationalist political force now, aligned with Republicans, but implementing his politics by supporting the far right in at least 18 countries around the world. Within the US, he was Trump’s largest donor during the 2024 campaign, and used his position in government to dismantle parts of government that progressives have championed, often in legally questionable ways.

The U.S. government has developed a multi-layered dependence on Musk’s companies, particularly in aerospace, national security, and digital infrastructure. If it wants to send astronauts to space, or bring them home, it increasingly must turn to Musk. The DOD depends upon Musk for both Starlink for internet service, and for military-use satellites. Grok has been embedded into government, including the Pentagon. Most recently, HHS is sending users to Grok as part of its Make America Healthy Again campaign.

A third sovereignty concern: your contractor is your ideological enemy, deeply embedded in government, with more resources than many nation states, and willing to use his power to undermine your policy goals. I don't think Dems have thought through if and how they would dislodge such contractors.

Ahead of 2028, Sen. Cory Booker to unveil bill to make $75,000 in income tax-free The bill is a marker for the next time Democrats get a chance to rewrite the tax code. The New Jersey senator told NBC News he's keeping the door open to a 2028 presidential bid.

What are we even doing here? The bulk of this is like four trillion dollar regressive tax cut that doesn’t help the poorest families at all and helps the richest the most.

To make it less regressive, he adds like another two trillion in progressive tax cuts that targets families with kids.

4/ NYU closed its student center stairs for YEARS to to prevent support for Palestine.

It enclosed its only plaza to prevent support for Palestine.

It banned graduation speakers to prevent support for Palestine.

No one can opine or express anything… in a UNIVERSITY!!!

2/ but for now, I’ll just say that NYU expecting to pick student β€œspeakers” who will record hostage videos and then sit beneath their own hostage videos because NYU will not tolerate even the chance of anyone talking about Palestine is such an indictment of liberalism and academia.

It's extremely clear that the US doesn't really have an objective here except to inflict maximum pain, and attacking water supply is going to end catastrophically for the entire region. It's not just a war crime, it's approaching a crime against humanity.

Dozens killed as Israeli special forces raid Lebanese village in search of 40-year-old remains Overnight, one Israeli operation saw at least 41 people killed and 40 injured, according to the Lebanese health ministry.

Pretty serious allegation here. "Witnesses told the BBC that the Israeli soldiers had arrived disguised in Lebanese military fatigues and used ambulances with signs of Hezbollah's Islamic Health Organization."
