Stayed = stated. Three years of me flagging it was unsafe to the travel supplier. No sign of any action taken.
I hope Mr Smith also kicked up a stink at their mistake, I really do.
(*I canβt actually remember the name of the duplicate guest so Iβm saying Mr Smith)
I inform them that I am not moving. They fucked this up: they can let Mr Smith know when he reappears.
Slept with the chain on the door, obviously.
Filed a lone traveller report the next day. Booked hotels over the cap and stayed why until I left that job.
I stay in corridor and tell manager where my bag will be, where my wash bag is etc.
He finally concedes that it is, in fact, my room and Mr Smith should never have been booked into it too.
Manager also insists room is Mr Smithβs.
I say βletβs go and see if my keycard works and where my stuff is.β
We go up. Manager admits Iβve got the right floor.
The keycard works on the room they had sworn was not mine.
Thatβs not your room, they tell me.
It is, I inform them.
No, no, itβs booked to Mr Smith*.
It is not. How would my stuff be in the room if it wasnβt my room?
You must be mistaken.
Iβm afraid I asked to see the manager.
Iβd booked in, unpacked and gone out for my early evening meal. I came back to find my t-shirt, that had been on the bed, was in the bathroom.
Naturally I head downstairs to reception.
There was a Travelodge that was routinely within the hotel cap at one of my jobs. I not only refused to use it again after theyβd also booked a stranger into my room, but flagged it as unsafe on the system and warned every woman I worked with to avoid it.
Working my way through the Hannah Fry AI programme whilst ironing. Strong recommend for anyone who heard a lot about AI but isnβt sure what is hype and what is real.

The Hamsterverse hits its half million downloads! Five years; commentaries, Strictlyβs, Book Clubs, Patreon, X-Files, friendship, laughter, madness, facts (occasionally), scandal, gossip, and a lot of people crossing paths and sharing their love. Itβs been a huge adventure. Thanks for pressing play.
All the talk of Claude is very weird for me personally, because itβs my brotherβs name. So seeing people saying things like βis Claude conscious?β just has me like βWell heβs terrible at replying to texts and is often hungover on Saturdays, so I can see why youβd be askingβ
Given the closeness to a secondary, Iβm wondering just how sick the staff already are of teens shouting βthis is a Wendyβs!β.
Also, if you look after metal needles they can last decades. Iβve got ones I nicked from my motherβs sewing kit 40 years ago still in my kit.
These kind of finds fascinate me because the movement involved in sewing will be similar now to 13,000 years ago.
Which makes me wonder who did the sewing? Was one person skilled enough that their role was sewing and the needle was a status symbol? Did they pick an apprentice?
Who first plaited hair?
I debated the palm tree for ages before spotting the coconuts. I literally have a Torbay palm in my garden.
Book as named in post. Itβs one of those ones with massive text for the title. Lurking behind the text is a stylised island with a lighthouse on it.
9/n The Last Murder At the End of the World by Stuart Turton.
A murder mystery set in a Le Guin style post-apocalypse.
Iβd only popped into the library to print something. Came out with this. Stayed up to 2am finishing it. Love your local libraries.
I got all but two!!
Try not to scroll down as Helen has posted the answers.
Good to know as weβll be switching to them when the ASHP and solar pv is fitted in spring.
(Currently on Scottish)
This is v interesting as I tried to switch to ecotricity when we moved house and found the customer service so bad during sign up that I switched back.
What if, communities, councils, charities and foundations, all clubbed in together to establish projects that would remove reliance on fossil fuels.
Bills go down
Emissions go down
Profits are kept local
Idiots at the top canβt pretend we need fracking.
Wealth redistribution is good actually.
Gods, yes. Iβve had GPs miss or dismiss problems in two close family members. In one case they ended up in ICU, on a vent.
Someone took the wrong lessons from Iron Man (2008).
Ta! As I say, not a military person.
That might explain the plumage as well, thank you.
People say an image like that is impossible to alt text. I say βthis is my kind of challengeβ.
Terrible AI illustration of Liz Truss. The AI has provided two icons for her: a βMiw budgetβ on a piece of paper which must be the mini budget. And a lettuce.
I see David Cameron appears to have outlawed Airfix kits?
Howling at this though!
Double Decker bar, please.
So, I'm not a military expert by any means but...do harriers normally land or take off with the canopy open?
@garius.bsky.social may know someone who knows.
