US Senators ARE NOT police. They do not have qualified immunity. They have zero authority to assault a protesting US Marine Corps Veteran. He broke the vets hand in a door, you can hear the bones crack. Call your Senators. 202-224-3121
reminder that they defunded the irs and made it illegal to forgive student loans and then cancelled millions of people's healthcare
I see this a lot in discussions among people in my ace/aro online circles concerning Gaza: People saying "I don't know what to do".
Between the books, podcasts, IG/TikTok shorts and YouTube videos from Palestinians...you already know what to do. So stop pretending you don't.
My guess is that Israel will also start bombing Iranian hospitals and universities, "in self-defense".
Gaza was a blueprint.
What the genocide in Gaza reinforced is that there are no "civilians" when it comes to Israel and the United States. The rest of the world learned the same lesson and the consequences are going to be felt across the world.
I donβt know why anyone would have an expectation in the UN holding US + Israel govts accountable. Netanyahu slaughtered Palestinians in a televised genocide with US money & help & the world cheered him on. Institutions wonβt save us.
Holds up
Let me be crystal clear on something: were this law to be passed, every one of the 13 states with Freedom to Read laws would cease to have those laws to protect them anymore.
We have poured so much energy into those state lawsβwhich matter, hear meβbut they are not going to solve the big issue.
Does anyone know of a Minnesota rebel loon cross stitch pattern for sale thatβs also a fundraiser? Thereβs a ton of patterns on Etsy but none of them appear to be fundraisers which just makes me sad #crossstitch #crafts
"Hey that's actually good point I wonder who wro-"
GREG PAK?!?!? From Comic Books?!?!?!
Sigh.
I just... think a lot about how much more pushback could've been possible to maybe stop this stuff if academics had listened to us when we begged everyone to stand with school libraries (and then public libraries).
It is the same fight. We need to be united. And even now...
Librarian here. We grant library cards to ALL residents, no matter their age or legal status. Our ID requirements pertain to establishing residency only. Do not invoke libraries, which embrace *everyone* in its civic fold, as a precedent for measures designed to *suppress* civic participation.
As people react to Prince Edwardβs arrest & S. Korean President Yoon Suk Yeolβs conviction, a quick reminder that the USAβs culture of impunity stretches back to the Civil War. Jefferson Davis & the rest should have been hung for treason as was customary then. But they werenβt & here we are.
Still no information from ICE on the 4 Oglala citizens allegedly illegally detained last month.

Friends, I need your help. With my family not responding when I asked for assistance paying momβs medical transport cost, Iβm cleaned out. I just received a shut off warning for my Internet bill. I hate to have to ask, but I wonβt get paid in time to avoid this. Please help. ko-fi.com/soniasulaiman/
A graphic in pink, blue, and green that illustrates how recent many Black History events are to the current day -- ranging from 1619 to 2024.
I'm sure we've all seen the graphic that lays out the United States ' relationship with slavery. It's good, but I never thought it was quite impactful enough. So I made my own.
I've used a few key events, including my birth, to highlight how recent these events are in history.
1 square = 1 year.
This is something the Nazis used to do to Jewish children in the camps. It happened to a man I knew when he was a child in Auschwitz. The camp guards thought it was funny as hell.

A copy of the zine "Rapid Response Networks in the Twin Cities A Guide to an Updated Model" with a black whistle and a couple copies of a blue sticker reading "Immigrants Welcome" with an image of boltcutters.
We've prepared a zine version of our text "Rapid Response Networks in the Twin Cities," describing the dynamic and resilient system that people in the Twin Cities have developed to keep the pressure on ICE.

Remembering David Graeber on his birthday, an anarchist, anthropologist, and author who dared to imagine a world beyond debt, bureaucracy, bullshit jobs, and hierarchy.

Not yet, but I hope to in the future!
The genre of the book? Itβs nonfiction
The cover of the book βFrostlines: a journey through entangled lives and landscapes in a warming arctic by Neil Shea with a white wolf on the cover standing on a frozen lake.
I give this 4 stars, I liked it a lot and it was very informative and well written, but the last 1/4 didnβt seem to fit and I wish he has talked to the SΓ‘mi people #booksky
According to urgent care, itβs most likely a viral infection
