Everyone be nice to my friends and colleagues at ECCC and buy all of their stuff. Why support big business when you can become an art collector on the cheap? Artist Alley is where stars are on the rise.

A digital fantasy illustration of a smiling fey-like woman sitting next to a round display window with dark wood frames, full of books and a potted plant with round white flowers on shelves. There are two books with visible titles, "Old Gods in Yivezheng" and "The Great Earth Eater".
She has a warm green complexion with some moles on her face, big teal eyes looking at the camera and brown medium-lenght braids. Kelp-like horns grow from behind her head and between the horns there is a gold headdress shaped like a chrysanthemum. She wears big round gold earrings. The dress she is wearing is dark green with white rectangular collars and brown leather parts such as a corset and cuffs. There are gold buttons on her puff sleeves. She is holding a big nondescript open book with one hand and her other hand is close to her face.
The background is dark brown with different warm color tones. There are paper triangle flags hanging behind her but in front of the bookstore. End ID.

A colored digital illustration of a portrait-size feminine character with long wavy green hair and striking deep red eyes, looking at the camera while smiling softly. They have horns made up of hair, a gold earring with a ribcage, a choker and a white frilly top. They have one hand up, holding a stylized heart-shaped scissor with little horns portruding while their hand is dripping in blood. Behind the character's head, there's a big anatomical heart drawn in hatches and a textured gold circle in the background. Overall, the background is gray pink and colors used for details are intense red. End ID.

A digital waist-up artwork of a feminine smiling character with one hand touching their jawline gently while being under the apricot tree with a graveyard in the background. They have a warm green complexion, auburn hair styled into two bubble braids, intense orange eyes and branch-like horns sprouting from their head decorated with autumn leaves. She has a few moles on her face, especially two above her lips on her right; round orange berries hanging from her pointy ears. She is dressed in a colorful, layered dress with laces and flowy fabrics tucked into a two-colored (yellow and mint) corset. On one of her shoulders, there's a pink fabric resting.
The colors are somewhat warm and dark with orange accents being most intense. There's a watermark at the bottom left corner: "hortensjjja" with a cute frog logo.

The most elusive thing in making art is confidence. I don't mean feeling good about your work or not being scared (although yes that's related), I mean drawing bold, confident lines. You can get good at pretty much every other aspect of art just with practice, but confidence is *tough*

You ever think about a bar full of people defiantly singing La Marseillaise, played by a soundstage full of Jewish refugees? You ever think about CASABLANCA??????

Republicans have openly admitted that disenfranchising voters has been part of their political strategy for years. They can't win unless they make it really difficult for most people to vote.

Catherine O’Hara was a comedy hero. An absolute star. A legend. How unbelievably lucky were we to have had her light up both the big and small screens? I may start crying.

Here. Have one of the delightfully funny scenes ever committed to film while I try to compose myself:

Just before Christmas, I got a puppy.
Her name is Minerva, and we call her *Minnie.

I'm still learning how to understand her.

Me: Do you need to go outside? Do you need to go outside, little baby? Do you need to do a poo?
Do you need to do a widdle piddle?

Minnie: Arf!

*I just call her "little baby" most of the time.

I'm also realizing I can't turn off the baby talk now.
Nobody tells you about that.

I got so lucky with my first puppy.
Her wonderful foster parents had her completely house-trained by the time we adopted her, so taking her outside for potty time has been pretty easy. I've got the puppy poopy routine pretty much down, now.

Me, putting on my coat: Let's see... I got the little poopy bags, puppy treats for bribes, jacket, scarf, phone… I think that's everything… Oh yes! And my passport.

I had been carrying around my passport for a while, but I knew it didn't matter. This is wrong. Nobody is required to carry around their papers.

I became a US citizen when I was seven. Since I was born in a refugee camp, I was stateless.
The US is the only nation where I've ever held citizenship. It's the only passport I've ever had, and it still felt important. Protective.

I would hold it in my pocket like a talisman, like it might ward off ghosts or something. But I realized I was holding onto it basically out of superstition.
ICE will pick up anybody.

I know that.

So I tucked my passport away.

And I largely avoid leaving my house.

I live a few blocks just South of George Floyd Square. I was in the neighborhood for that, too.
And all the neighbors came together to protect each other. We're already organized.
We'll do our best to get through this.

Me, to my dog: I hope I can take you for a walk someday soon. Won't that be nice, little baby?

Abolish ICE. A little journal comic from South Minneapolis.
