(2/2) It's clear the college is doing fantastic work preparing students for employment and teaching them the skills they need to thrive.

I also got a tour of one of the college’s buildings now undergoing full renovation and set to open later this year.

(1/2) Had a great afternoon at Lewisham College with Principal Jamie Stevenson.

I loved chatting with students about their studies and future plans, and seeing their enthusiasm.

Yesterday, I spoke during the Second Reading of the Representation of the People Bill to advocate for extending the vote to 16 and 17 year olds.

Young people deserve the opportunity to shape their future.

Did you know on Monday, MPs will debate whether 16 and 17 year olds should get the right to vote?

A huge moment and a long time coming.

Energy bills to fall in April in price cap change and charges shake-up Changes announced in the Budget mean all energy bills will see some kind of reduction, but it will vary.

Fantastic news - energy bills to fall by 7% in April.

Labour's decision to invest record amounts in homegrown clean power will bring down bills for good.

An important step towards tackling the affordability crisis so many families are facing.

Kender Primary School is always a delight to visit.

Great to meet school councillors, hear about their campaigns and to chat with Transport for London (TfL) Ambassadors about their mission to reach Travel for Life Gold Accreditation.

Good news to see the Gov clamp down even further on online platforms to protect children from illegal content and other harms.

As tech and AI rapidly adapts, the law must keep up.

Inspiring to hear from creatives and leaders at my recent music roundtable. Each overcame the challenges of being from a working-class background to become successful.

Looking forward to speaking to others and discussing how we can improve working-class access across the creative industries.

I've championed votes for 16- and 17-year-olds since I was elected in 2015.

I meet so many amazing young people in our local schools - they deserve the chance to shape their own futures.

By the next General Election, they'll have the right to vote.

(1/2) Brilliant to see the Gov announce Β£1bn of funding to community-owned energy projects across the UK.

From council tenants saving money on their bills, to community centres making profits for local enterprises, there are huge opportunities.

(4/4) Delivering that change will also require a Cabinet and front bench that reflect the breadth of views across the Parliamentary Labour Party and the diverse traditions that make up our movement, strengthening both unity and effectiveness as we move forward.

(3/4) At the same time, we must recognise that the public rightly expects change to be felt more quickly, especially in our economy and in living standards.

(2/4) When the government has deviated from our Labour values, it has made errors, but this Labour Government has begun the serious work of changing the country and delivering the national renewal we promised voters in 2024.

09.02.2026 16:18 πŸ‘ 5 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 3

(1/4) Turning inward to a leadership contest now would be both wrong and counterproductive when there is still so much vital work ahead. Our focus should remain on delivering the change voters asked for, not distracting ourselves from it.
