I truly canβt tell you how delighted I am that the first Lizards book has been shortlisted for the @carnegiemedals.bsky.social I love writing these books sooooooo much; theyβre just pure joy for me. Plus Tim Millerβs hilarious illustrations, itβs just utter pleasure. Made my day.

Sunset turns the sky orange. Photo taken on a parking lot of a supermarket.
Sunset tonight. Must be a lot of dust in the air.
Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher is only $2.99, probably everywhere, but at least on Amazon, Apple and Kobo.

Hello, book people! I am the book content editor for Reactor Mag and I'm looking for 2026 sci-fi, fantasy, horror, romantasy, and speculative books coming out in the second half of the year! If you have an adult or YA SFF/H book out July-Dec (or publicist), share the link/info here!
Itβs not my business what you do! If you feel badly, you go live with it. You canβt pretend you care about a community and then also burden them with absolving your guilt in materially supporting their oppressors. Itβs exhausting! Donβt make your feelings my problem!
Every time I have a BookBub ad campaign, they send me emails days after itβs ended that it isnβt winning any impressions. Well itβs not supposed to; itβs ended. π
Thank you, Lady, for educating and delighting as long as you did.

Basically, take the amount of money you think your favorite author gets, halve it, and then halve it again, and you have a number that's probably a lot closer to their actual earnings from writing.
"But I don't think they make that much!"
Halve that. Halve it again.
ICYM yesterday, my review of How (Not) to Conjure a Boyfriend by Jordon Greene. A cute queer retelling of While You Were Sleeping. Out tomorrow.

Exceptional work. Anybody know what the fuck itβs supposed to mean?
Last line is especially ominous

Cherry blossom viewing is a big thing in Japan β it's called "hanami". It's one of the most beautiful times of year, and people even take time off work to enjoy it. These images are of famous cherry blossom spots in Okayama. This year, Okayama blossoms are expected to begin around March 27.

My husband worked on a project years ago that mapped space junk and already then the conclusion was that there's nothing we can do, and there was a lot less junk back then. Maybe there should be compulsory re-entry on old satellites so they would return to earth, even if it destroys them.

I think it would be more a technical issue about the collecting itself. No handy way to do it, plus it would cost more than the recycling value would be. Mostly it's just left up there. A lot of junk is orbiting earth.
Lovely! I've been giving to this foundationβit existed, it just didn't have official status, and now it can move forward!
This is an excellent rule for storytelling but also implies that Philip Pullman witnessed the death of God as a boy.
Never miss a chance to tell my favourite science joke:
Q: What did Crick & Watson discover?
A: Rosalind Franklinβs lab book.
