Polypody and/or spleenwort ferns hanging from the walls of a natural rock cut pit, shaped by a waterfall.
I’ve walked this route quite a few times. It passes a series of waterfalls but this is my favourite. It feels like a primeval forest glade to me. The ferns!!!

That’s wonderful. There’s a lot going on there - I see a seated, exhausted figure wrapped in a shawl. And then getting the light on the cliff… just a superb image.
Thankyou. I think you are right, memories are short and subtle change over many years gets lost in our collective memories. Or becomes anecdotal and unevidenced. Multi year projects and factual events remembered by older people help us frame what would otherwise be difficult to consider.
It’s bleak… and I miss the snow.
Projects rarely do well on social media, but, I find them so rewarding. “The Kiss of the Cailleach”, is my homage to the state of winter where I live over the years.

The old Bridge at the Hermitage - queues to go walking in this place stretch down the dual carriage way. It's location that a few years ago was quite all the time and mostly only known to locals. Last year 88,000 people visited. This year over 350,000. It's under intolerable pressure.
I have no issue with "honeypots", but The Hermitage is now getting so hammered with footfall - I think this will be my last shot from there for a while.

A broken limb sprawls on the floor, the tree damaged and broken by high winds. And yet mosses, lichens and fungi thrive on it. Trees are of such value at all ages and conditions.
Some more woodland goodness from Rothiemurchus, by the banks of Loch Morlich. Even a broken tree is valued in a #wood.

All summer I've been anticipating a VERY colourful autumn - much more sunshine in Scotland than usual, means more sugars that then turn into the anthocyanins which in turn, give leaves red and purple pigments. A group of birch trees surrounded by autumnal bracken.
The colours this autumn have been awesome. Nearly had to wear sun-glasses to take this!
