Explains a lot. They were bonkers to let the cameras in to defend the indefensible. A real shitshow despite the attempted PR spin....

Fellow creators and creatives. You have until 25th Feb to write to your MP & tell the government that handing unchecked power to AI corporates will destroy many livehoods without creating any of the growth you desperately craveβ¦.
Baroness Kidron likens the Government proposals requiring creators to opt their works out of AI training to "a corner shop from which you can steal, unless they post a message saying you must not."

Graphic reads: Poor mental health has for too long been accepted as the price that has to be paid to get TV programmes and films made. The findings of this report are not surprising, but they are horrific. With 30% of respondees reporting having thoughts of taking their own lives in the past 12 months, how is it not the single most important priority for this industry to improve the conditions that feed poor mental health? This survey shows that when employers use the best practice in the FTVC Whole Picture Toolkit, there are demonstrably better outcomes for the mental health of the workers on those productions. This proves that mentally healthy productions are truly within the employers' power to control.
Published today, @filmtvcharity.bsky.social 2024 Looking Glass Report shows that mental health in film, TV, and cinema is getting worse - despite some positive shifts in working culture.β This is our response to the findings.

3/ Delighted to see the Govt's Land Use consultation state that "land ownership in England is highly concentrated", and proposes opening up the Land Registry by "making more data free to access" & "increase transparency of land and property data". Yes!
2/ Land use consultation reiterates govt's commitment to meeting 30x30 (protecting 30% of England's land for nature by 2030) - we are well off-track meeting this
So consultation asks what new policies are needed, particularly about giving new powers & funds to National Parks & National Landscapes:
Been reading through the Government's new Land Use Consultation. Here's the juiciest bits I've seen so far!
An excellent, bold proposal to spare 9% of England's least-productive land for nature & carbon - restoring peat bogs & regenerating woods - & changes to ag land use over a further 10% /1

The first seems inaccurate, the second *unbalanced* at best.
I'm sure it's a coincidence....

This spoilt the good vs evil/team player slant to the faithfuls in #TheTraitors Just an incentive to be greedy at the end now!
Has anyone got Fergal Sharkeyβs number? Heβs late for his @bsky.app transfer! #ThamesWater seem very close to going under & if the government donβt pull their finger out we will all be bailing out the sewage merchants.
A collage-style image titled "Big Garden Birdwatch Starter Pack," featuring various humorous and relatable items associated with birdwatching. Items include a cabbage-shaped teapot with a plate of chocolate biscuits, a black cap with a bird logo, pink binoculars, and a T-shirt that says "Pigeon Appreciator" with an image of pigeons. There's also a text conversation with messages like "Big Garden Birdwatch π" and a search bar with the query "can robins hear my thoughts???" A set of bird identification cards, a notebook, and framed photos of Big Bird and David Attenborough complete the pack.
The big weekend has arrived! π¦

Thereβs a big job needed to rebuild the protected landscape network for the future, we laid out a routemap to do this in the Glover Review of protected landscapes. Jo is right that a series of directionless bailouts without reform will get us nowhere long term
