Legal Compulsion: Invoking the Defense Production Act (DPA) to force the company to provide unrestricted access to its technology on national security grounds. Contract Termination: Ending Anthropic's existing $200 million contract with the Department of Defense. Anthropic has stated it is continuing "good-faith conversations" with the Pentagon to ensure it can support national security missions responsibly. Meanwhile, competitors like Elon Musk’s xAI have already agreed to the Pentagon’s terms for classified use.
