We need to figure out what the utilities are of our time and start treating them that way. We are all paying a private tax to the big platforms across industries that canβt be avoided.

AOC: The Pentagon has not passed an audit, and they are out here trying to kick people with disabilities off of Medicaid. It is corruption that is stealing from the public coffers β and that is the actual waste, fraud, and abuse.
Thereβs a freak-out about AI right now. βAI slopβ, they say. Iβll get a lot of blocks for this very post.
But hereβs the part people are missing: weβre only at the beginning.
History has a sense of humor about moments like this. In 1994 on the Today Show, Katie Couric askedβ¦

It must be so so so so bad for the Rupert Murdoch owned WSJ to run this
I mean come on!
Wow -- as first spotted by @BadFoxGraphics on X, Fox & Friends this morning used *old footage of a previous dignified transfer* to mislead their audience about the fact that Trump wore a baseball cap during the one yesterday
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
So maybe our national media can now report that Trump lies, Hegseth lies, they all lie.
Itβs easy to write because itβs true. And then explain to readers and viewers that the administration lies every time it speaks.
It shouldnβt be this hard?
A reminder that destroying historic/heritage sites is a war crime. It is, to put it bluntly, a terrorist tactic, deployed by deplorable groups such as the Taliban (Bamiyan Buddhas) and ISIS (Palmyra).
March 8, 2026 - Tehran at sunrise today. But the sun is hidden behind a sky filled with smoke. After a night of intensive strikes on oil facilities, thick black clouds now hang over the city, turning morning into something that feels like night.
A 6,000-year-old city thatβs home to 9 million people is on fire because our leaders donβt give one shit about the laws of armed conflict.
The US destruction of Iranian oil refineries constitutes a war crime because the refineries themselves are a civilian target and not a military one. This action is intended to inflict suffering and loss to civilian populations with minimal impact on any military installations.
Iranβs people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
It's good that the January 6th plaque is finally up in the Capitol. But it's utterly disgracefulβjust the sort of sick travesty you'd expect from Mike Johnsonβthat it was put up without ceremony at 4:30 a.m. in a place inaccessible to the public.
We are living in a time of absolute, utter madness...and too many people are unwilling to acknowledge it. My latest.

Staff at the nationβs largest Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility have placed bets on which detainee will be the next to die by suicide, according to new reporting from the Associated Press based on 911 calls and detainee accounts.
So according to the WSJ a US Senator conspired with another country to manipulate the US into starting a war, am I getting this right
Small thing, but he is dressed so disrespectfully.
"I think the counter to Trump always has been and always will be civil society. A lot of the left wants social change to look like the French Revolution or Che Guevara. Maybe changing the world is more like caregiving than it is like war."- @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social

Multiple news outlets are reporting a US attack on an Iranian #desalination plant.
If verified, this violates international law protecting #water systems during wars, and it sets a dangerous precedent, given intense dependence of Gulf countries on desalination.

CBS obtained video of the DHS killing of an unarmed man in Texas that DHS concealed for nearly a year, which clearly contradicts claims that he violently rammed anyone. He is shot with his brake lights on, car not moving or barely moving. Another DHS crime.
