Greens stand with local residents to protect our precious green spaces from speculative developers and the Labour government that will proudly "back the builders". @worthinggreens.bsky.social @clairehunt.bsky.social
Worthing Green Party members outside town hall Extraordinary Council meeting called to discuss โpostponingโ May 2026 elections
As a @worthinggreens.bsky.social councillor Iโm proud to have stood up for the right to have local elections in May. Shame the Labour administration didnโt. Elections are not a pragmatic โnice to haveโ, to be sacrificed if government sets an agenda underfunded councils might not have capacity for.
Meaningful day on the doorsteps in East Worthing this weekend ๐
Grateful to Cllr. Carl Walker and the community for focused, solutionโdriven talks๐ค
Residents voiced anger over a possible election delay and sparked a surge in petition signatures.

So proud of Bristol's Green councillors delivering more affordable homes that Bristolians desperately need - Bristol is now the best council outside of London for building affordable homes. More to do but this is a brilliant start.

Really good to hear whatโs important to people in East Worthing. ๐๐
Labour have bottled it, theyโve cancelled the elections. Undemocratic and incompetent - aka Labourโs new normal.
Greens are on the rise. Join us, help us take the first Mayor of Sussex and Brighton! Letโs build our future of hope together.

3/3 Mayors have serious powers to bring change. And Labour know they'd not be winning any of it. But the Greens are rising. Weโve doubled membership in 2 months. Weโre beating Labour in some polls. Thanks for the extra time, Labour. Weโre coming.

2/3 they are completely failing to solve the real problems of local government. Inequality rises, the housing crisis continues, our bills keep rising - the cost of living is staggering. But Labour just pour resource into chaos, rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic like real lives don't matter
@rachelmillward.bsky.social is bang on, fast-track Devo was always going to be a shambles, and it led to local elections being cancelled, but now Labour is scared of voters theyโre running away from democracy again! @worthinggreens.bsky.social @iandaveysussex.bsky.social

A lone Cormorant perches on a ledge at dusk, silhouetted against a golden sky. In the background, a blurred view of Westminsterโs clock tower and nearby bridge structure rises behind it: politics and power in soft focus, nature sharp in the foreground.
In today's Budget, the Chancellor spoke about building the economy โbrick by brickโ but left out the very foundation that underpins it all: nature.
The same Government that promised to restore our natural world appears instead to have wiped it from their agenda.
Sussex needs a Green Mayor and Rachel is an outstanding candidate! But campaigns need funding so please donate, even small amounts are worth it. ๐
Important article.
For the Israeli govt the erasure of ecosystems & peopleโs means of survival seems to be a key strategic aim. It appears to be seeking what some have called โholocideโ: the complete destruction of every aspect of life in Gaza ๐ข

โFor 60 years, car advertising has programmed us that driving is freedom, that cars are how we get around, that driving โ even reckless driving โis a symbol of status & power. But what if a car marketing vet (aka @tomflood.bsky.social)
used his skills to highlight the insanity of car culture?โ
๐ป Should Greens work with Jeremy Corbyn & Zarah Sultana where thereโs common ground? Of course, but we have a distinct political identity & a unique ability to reach out much more broadly โ & itโs crucial that we keep that!

Dear Prime Minister, I am writing to urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to request that the Speaker recalls Parliament from the summer recess immediately to permit an urgent debate on the UK governmentโs response to the Israeli security cabinetโs decision to prepare to take control of Gaza City, and the broader plan recently passed by the Israeli cabinet. This is not a routine foreign policy disagreement. The reported security cabinet decision, together with the stated principles to โprepare to take control of Gaza Cityโ and to impose long-term security control and demilitarisation, signals a major escalation that risks further catastrophic civilian harm across Gaza. Such a plan is yet another declaration of intent from Netanyahuโs government to commit breaches of international humanitarian law. The government must treat this with the urgency and seriousness that the possible breach of treaty obligations demands. Under the 1948 Genocide Convention the UK has a clear and binding duty to both prevent and punish genocide. Where there are credible grounds to believe that actions or policies by a foreign government risk causing genocidal acts or facilitating conditions for genocide, the UK must urgently assess its legal obligations and consider immediate measures to prevent further harm.
Introduce targeted sanctions on all members of the Israeli cabinet directly responsible for approving plans that foresee a prolonged occupation or other measures risking large-scale civilian harm in Gaza. Use the UKโs diplomatic weight with allies to press for an immediate ceasefire, unimpeded humanitarian access, the safe release of hostages, and an urgent international inquiry into allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. The risk that the UK could be failing to meet its obligations under the Genocide Convention is an issue that demands parliamentary accountability and public scrutiny. The consequences of delay will be measured in countless innocent lives lost. For these reasons I request both that you write to the Speaker today asking him to recall Parliament, and that your office publish the steps you intend to take in response to this grave development. I am, of course, available to meet to discuss this further. Yours sincerely, Ellie Chowns MP Member of Parliament for North Herefordshire Foreign Affairs Spokesperson for the Parliamentary Green Party
I am calling for Parliament to be recalled immediately in light of the Israeli security cabinet's decision. We must hold the UK govt to account and secure urgent action to alleviate sufferingย inย Gaza.
Our leadership candidates are united on our bold, radical policies. So the choice is about a communication style targeting progressive activists or a broader appeal beyond that base. Under FPTP itโs the latter that wins Green seats. #togetherwewin
