I wanted to make this piece not only to highlight a synthwave act I love like the other ones before, but also to celebrate the life and impact of an incredible artist and good person taken far too soon.

You could just tell he was a genuinely good person to the core, and that warmth and realness shined through in everything he did.
In addition to being an exceptional musician and performer, in every interview I read/heard and in my limited interactions with him over the years via DMs and email he was nothing but kind, gracious, and humble.
I was absolutely heartbroken to hear about Will's passing last year. I knew he had been having health issues off and on for a while and was holding out hope things would turn around, but sadly life doesn't always work out that way.
Every new single was better and better in every way, to say nothing of their fantastic videos and live performances. Their album Sojourner was high on my Best of 2024 list, and deservedly so.
This is a piece I wish I had done a long time ago. I've been a massive fan of Immortal Girlfriend since I first saw them on the DYNMCreates Together livestream in August 2020. I always loved their unique, atmospheric, and soulful style of “night synthwave.”
