I just learned another term from her essay: “In urban planning, the habitual paths taken by people on foot or on bicycle rather than the paved roads which either don’t exist or are too linear and awkward are called “desire paths.””
In the woods they’re called “social trails.”
Oh, I love this language. Having another family over for dinner last night definitely helped me adjust my spiral.
