I've been trying not to buy a book by Marguerite Duras, telling myself to wait for when I'm next time in France. But I've been longing for her voice too much. She feels essential to the tone I'm discovering in my own writing. So, bought one of her books today :) #booksky #writting
I've been talking to myself in poems this week. Finally finished the story I've been working on. Pilled magazines I intended to read, but didn't. Reading too many books at once. March has started well. Despite all the mess in the world. What about you?
why is that called "dark"? :D They do apply to me too, but I don't see most of them as too negative. It's good to be a closed book, sometimes
i get the fun of procrastinating. it's safer to research, to read, to learn more than doing the scary shit. I try to make myself rules about how much i'm allowed to stay in that safety :) and then, somehow, writing becomes fun when i don't look too seriously at it
The first pages of the Snow Cabin, a story I'm slowly finalising are now on my substack. She thought it would be nice to reunite with an old friend for some skiing. It's a story about adult intimacy, with all its complications.

Yeah, and then mongols could be saying the same, voting for Genghis Khan to be that center piece. Good framing if the goal is to raise the debate. But makes this book seem like it needs cheap marketing tricks to sell some whataboutisms :)
i saw it on the news. western press in general likes to pretend there's less war than in reality. same with Ukraine, it's like who cares that kids are killed there regularly by russia, people still discuss if it's a war at all. Same with stuff happening in Africa, who cares, it's too far

Editing the first part of "Snow cabin." I circle around motional unavailability as a topic in most of my writing. In this story, they are both tired and wounded enough to make a simple winter's trip complicated. But that's how life works, right? #writing

Haha, I'm having a similar challenge. That's the "in between", just as most of things in life are.
There are categories on Amazon like contemporary/ women fiction which say nothing and fit everything. But they sound boring.
The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit, has been on my Goodreads TBR list since 13th of Feb, 2016. Almost exactly 10 years! Because I haven't read it yet, I keep pushing my projects through for as long as I can 😆 Maybe I can learn more about quitting next year.

for me it's the opposite. I realised that writing is the only activity where I allow myself to loose control and get carried away in the flow at its truest form :) but I also get what you say
yeah, these days give me revelation after revelation. I can't even name them yet, I have a sense of where they come from, but the whole way of how the story is developing just gives me surprise after surprise and lesson after lesson.I'm learning a lot about myself through it, but there's smth bigger
Writing books for living was never a good idea :D i don't think there was ever a good environment for that. There were better times, but still. If you want a good living, it's not in writing books for the majority of us :)

What matters is to keep buying books :) New and old. Then, tell about them to others. It's less about money, more about being read - at least it should be so. And the money will come one way or another
quite many. Piano teacher by E. Jelinek comes to mind as a story that is literally focusing on physical pain and transmits it well on the reader
My "Snow cabin" story is steadily telling itself page after page. Not trying to make it erotic makes it somehow... still erotic, but in a much more interesting way. #writing #erotica
