Fucking hell. I came back for another look.
No, you're blocked.
People like you also say things like "you can't make an omelette without breaking any eggs".
I don't accept that some deaths are going to happen.
Goodbye.
I'm vaguely disappointed but also watching the Rocketeer with my youngest so not getting embroiled. Earlier you agreed with me about 20mph speed limits and I respected you because you seemed to be aware of the danger caused by fast driving around people, so as the Americans say, "what gives?"
...
Well, after going back into the conversation, his last post from 20 minutes ago makes me take it all back.
You're right, he is. An ignoramus.
Sigh.
Does that actually happen though?
๐
I'm sorry to hear about that, I can only imagine.
To be fair I think this person put themselves across badly originally, it turns out they do agree that 20 should be the limit in any sort of area where there are people around. They at least seem to be open to discussion as well.
Reminds me of some pyjamas my grandad used to wear

<Stands up in the middle of the living room and bursts into spontaneous applause much to the shock and bemusement of everyone else>
Unless it's a song by James
Possibly. Probably my fault I saw your original message, thought (wrongly) typical bad driver and saw red a bit.
Slight risk of circular arguing here but if we were driving fast in a place where people are busy doing people stuff then we are at fault, irrespective of what the law says.
I can cope with late nights / early mornings as long as sofas aren't involved.
The moment 10pm comes and I sit down that's it. Zzzz.
I wish I was in my early 20s again and going to go dancing to some drum n bass
I think that's the point. *We* all should be incredibly nervous about what we might do to someone at any given instant.
I like James May. How he put up with that insufferable twat Jeremy Clarkson for so long I'll never know.
Here is presumed liability
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...
There's no precedent in human history or in nature for children (and people in general) to be separated from 3 tons of lethal metal by just a few cm of empty space. Trying to confine people to a tiny, often non existent pavement is unnatural and of course it should be on the driver to slow down
I hadn't suggested that, nevertheless is driving slower not a reasonable step?It should be nigh on impossible to hit someone in anything like a residential area.
I think presumed liability(in general) would make a massive diff.
(If someone steps into a busy A road or motorway, that's another thing)
And that leads to the belief they are justified drive in whatever way they feel like, wherever and whenever they want. And that's why 5 people are killed by drivers every day, 50 are seriously injured and countless more involved in incidents.
That the notion exists that can be the pedestrian's own fault if they are killed by someone controlling lethal machinery only further encourages more dangerous driving IE. I can drive however I feel like down this residential road where I can see there are likely to be kids playing and pets roaming.
I don't believe in superior people either.
A collage of images from #Nosferatu of 1922 - on the left a dramatic poster portraying Count Orlok, on the top right the iconic scene of his shadow ascending a staircase, and in the lower right Orlok is fatally exposed to the sun.
On this day in 1922, German director #FWMurnau released the iconic expressionist silent movie #Nosferatu โ Eine Symphonie des Grauens (A Symphony of Horror).
Assuming they are allowed to work then, yes, they are.
Dear Zack,
Shabana appears to have abandoned her morality for the sake of her politics. Please do not make the same mistake if and when you find yourself in a position of government.
Frequently cycling reminds me of the trench run from Star Wars. This is one of those times.
Bumblebeeeeeeeeee!
Never mind the bell, that's a very cool name.
