Hopefully, I wasn’t too rude but as a public health professional and a nurse, I get really passionate about health misinformation. The world‘s food supply has never been safer or more free of toxins. The current focus on purity is a distraction from actual health issues related the food system.
Your maths is bad. You are comparing mg/kg to microgram/serving. These are not comparable. The WHO provisional tolerable weekly intake of lead is 3 mg/week, which translates to 428 mcg per day.
Can you share where you found the legal limit in the UK?
It doesn’t have mad levels of lead. California’s Prop 65 uses a safety factor 1,000 times lower than minimal known unsafe levels. It is literally impossible to avoid this level of lead if you’re eating food grown on planet Earth.
It suggests that the products have unsafe levels of lead (bc it is click bait) but it is using a threshold well below an amount that would cause harm. We know root vegetables have some lead in them, but not enough to cause harm.
Totally agree with this. Most supplements are trash and not supported by evidence. Athletic green powder, apple cider vinegar pills, probiotic gummies, collagen powder…. Garbage! A waste of money!
