This is good to know. It will be my first reading of his work
The Arcade is what I was tempted by but Illuminations is the one I ordered.
Sounds excellent!
Iβd love to know how you find it. Iβm considering Illuminations; Hannah Arendt this collection put together and it includes essays on Baudelaire and Proustβwhich Iβd very much like to read.
It's very tempting to start there.
The writers and thinkers that stick with us for that long tend to be the excellent ones. Looking forward to reading his work.
The description for that one looks so intriguing. Have you read anything by him before?
I don't think I've read anything by him at all but I'd like to change that. And we still need to read Narrative Discourse! I was sorting through some books and found my copy.

Earthly Signs: Moscow Diaries 1917-1922 by Maria Tsvetaeva. Each time I read it was like sticking my hand in an electrical outlet (reader, I loved it).
oh thatβs right. You had that big snowstorm a little while ago?
That is the truth! I had no idea his performance would be so mesmerizing. completely unexpected (and perhaps more enjoyable in a startling sort of way).
There was an interview with Woo at the end and he said Chow Yun-Fat reminded him of Alain Delon and Ken Takakura. Burning a hundred dollar bill to light his cigarette may just be one of my favorite cinematic moments ever.
