βοΈ There is a significant north/south divide over mashed potatoes at Christmas dinner.
Three in five (60%) of northerners consider mashed potatoes a key part of Christmas dinner, nearly double the one third (34%) of southerners who do so.
π₯Roast potatoes (87% net important), gravy (83%) and stuffing (73%) are the three most essential items to have on a Christmas dinner, according to the UK public.
Roasties beat turkey (67%) and pigs in blankets (66%).

Labour's lead (38%) over the Conservatives (33%) on the economy is just five points - a 17 point drop since July.
π The Labour Party (37%) has a two point lead over the Conservatives (35%) among the public for who is most trusted on taxation.

After march's spring budget, one in four (24%) said the Conservatives' plan for the economy was working, with six in ten (60%) saying it was not.
