A nightmare employment report this morning.

Economists’ expectation was +50,000 jobs.

Actual number was 92,000 jobs lost.

I don't think this would have hit so hard if I hadn't encountered it in the context of the musical, live - but it resonates so hard with hope for all of us to break free in spite of impossible odds.

And knowing that it doesn't work- we know how the story ends- makes it harder. Freedom was so close.

One of the few times I broke my conservative dad's brain to the point where he was at a loss for words (momentarily) was when I said yes, I would happily contribute (taxes) so that other people could have healthcare.

It’s all very worrying but this seems especially scary because it feels like a case of “we have these toys, we might as well use them”. And the logical endpoint of that thinking is extremely bad.
