Oh wow, my first bellydance gig was 15 years ago today at Alhambra Palace Chicago. I guess I've been at this a while! πŸ˜‚

FWIW at most Asian restaurants* if the menu doesn't specifically say "fillet" etc. I expect a whole fish. They're almost always fresher. (And all the parts are tasty! πŸ™‚)

* Japanese restaurants don't usually conform to this though.

Seriously. Americans don't realize how far behind the rest of the world we are.

Even 7 years ago Beijing felt like The Future.

Earlier than that, Bangkok - in not a rich country - already had more modern, quieter trains than any US city.

US propaganda has always been strong though...

I've gotten to do so many photo shoots in the last couple months! Here's another of my favorite shots from Estonia. ❀️

Folks: We have to take wins when we get them. It's a way to fight against despair.

This is Activism + Fighting Authoritarians 101.

So tired of all the doomerism. I get it, things are bad. Believe me, I live it. But they won't get better if we believe nothing will change (so why try).

Kpop Demon Hunters was tailor-made to crack something vulnerable open in Asian Americans of a certain age.

Also I was not expecting KPop Demon Hunters to hit as hard as it did. (Again, in the context of the musical.)

This song also resonates hard. Accepting yourself completely even though you've been told half of you is terrible. Found family. Hope when we fight together.

Wait for Me
Wait for Me YouTube video by AndrΓ© De Shields - Topic

I don't think this would have hit so hard if I hadn't encountered it in the context of the musical, live - but it resonates so hard with hope for all of us to break free in spite of impossible odds.

And knowing that it doesn't work- we know how the story ends- makes it harder. Freedom was so close.

In a time with so much horror, it's still extra horrifying that they let someone die for such an easily solvable medical issue.

One of the few times I broke my conservative dad's brain to the point where he was at a loss for words (momentarily) was when I said yes, I would happily contribute (taxes) so that other people could have healthcare.

It’s all very worrying but this seems especially scary because it feels like a case of β€œwe have these toys, we might as well use them”. And the logical endpoint of that thinking is extremely bad.

When someone says β€žScientists do not want you to knowβ€œ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

ChatGPT Health Is Staggeringly Bad at Recognizing Life-Threatening Medical Emergencies According to the first independent safety evaluation of OpenAI's ChatGPT Health, it's astonishingly bad at identifying medical emergencies.

In life-threatening cases that needed immediate medical attention, ChatGPT Health told folks to stay home.

But also 64% of the folks who didn't need immediate care were advised by ChatGPT to go to the ER.

a group of cartoon characters are standing next to each other with the words normal people in the metaverse above them Alt: A group of cartoon characters (including one that looks like Mark Zuckerberg) are standing next to each other with the words, "Normal people in the Metaverse" above them.

This is going to go the way of the Metaverse.

The real question is how much money will they burn through before figuring out that no one wants this?
