So let me get this straight ...
1. US bombs Iran
2. Oil price goes up a bit, benefitting Russia's petrostate
3. Russia gives Iran targeting info
4. Oil price shoots WAY up
5. US unsanctions Russian oil
this isn't just a MAGA thing, it's a cross-American one and *especially* a lot of people who came of age in politics or punditry in the 1990s. the idea that the news could happen to them - that the world might not be all going their way - is genuinely brain-breaking to a lot of them
You couldn't make this up
Putin is supporting Iran with intelligence in the war
Yet Trump is considering unsanctioning more Russian oil according to Bessent
A clueless US Administration, in way over its head
I can't believe the Armageddon military commanders story has gone viral based on one person's claims to have received complaints from servicemembers. That's it! That's all we know. Yet somehow it's gone viral and now Democrats are seeking a Pentagon IG investigation
Good post on the practical SOF challenges of securing Iran's HEU stocks. Doesn't mean Israel and the US won't try it.
That Trump repeats calls for Iran's unconditional surrender on same day he's got the defence industrial chiefs round for an emergency meeting on military supplies perfectly sums up his grasp of ends & means.
Interesting that among the few advance plans we made are those that benefit Russia. See my longer essay on Oligarchic Corridors.

The 20-something billionaires who run Kalshi and Polymarket are battling it out to be the top prediction market company. Observers and former insiders say the feud is just heating up. n.pr/4rhtF7z
Must read. “We can’t understand the [Iran] attacks…without situating it in an algorithmic culture geared toward performing for an online audience…While Christian rhetoric…often does participate…the main message…is more about transgressing norms and showing domination” @laurenhorngriffin.bsky.social

Kalshi employees "kind of understand that without the tweets and the streamers and all of the social-media stuff that the traders do for them, usually just for free, their marketing would be a lot harder," said Jack Campion, 20, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Kalshi affiliate. In September, Kalshi briefly signed up a 15-year-old videogame streamer who goes by vertid online to promote its brand on X as an affiliate. A week later, Kalshi ended the partnership. "Yo brother, legal team confirmed that we can't work with minors rn," a Kalshi employee wrote to the user in messages reviewed by the Journal. "Kinda sad tbh."

BREAKING: Russia has provided Iran with information that can help Tehran strike the U.S. military, AP sources say.
There was war because Trump had a feeling Iran was going to attack.
There will be peace when Trump has a feeling they've surrendered.
Specific enough?
Wrote this article yesterday before the news of Russia’s support to Iran was reported www.russiamatters.org/analysis/ira...
These are the people serving in President Donald Trump's second Cabinet. The AP is tracking Trump's nominations, the Senate confirmation process and Cabinet members' tenure.
Lebanese armed group Hezbollah spent months restocking its arsenal of rockets and drones, using support from Iran and its own weapons factories to prepare for a new war with Israel, six sources familiar with the group's preparations said reut.rs/4bsM8Jv

So Iran’s sole athlete for the Winter Paralympics couldn’t safely make the games that start today, according to UK broadcasters. So no Iranian team present. Would have paraded just before Israel at the opening ceremony taking place at the moment in Verona. Russia and Belarus return.
there are plenty of moral/ethical reasons to not like prediction markets but the thing that's most interesting to me is the way that they are a machine that destroys trust. by democratizing insider trading everyone assumes the fix is always in. it's corrosive! www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

Even if you call out the lies it doesn't matter, because any of the institutions responsible for any sort of accountability are completely worthless, so there's no cost to lying.
It's really a reflection of how much the media and government has been captured by MAGA, you don't even have to lie well anymore.
It's really unfair to compare this to Iraq in 2003, at least then they had the decency to put some effort into their lies and deception.
Things will get even dumber
