@footballcliches.bsky.social Landed in Spain earlier and realised my first tentative "gracias" at passport control is a bit like a goalkeeper getting a touch of the ball early in a big game. Settles the nerves.

Was just listening to New Order's 2001 single "Crystal" and was taken right out of it by
an instance of "iconic football commentary in things" at 29 seconds.
It's a common phrase, and not even the right one, but the intonation and timing is spot on.

Not showing it at all appears to be the answer
Very curious about how the "as it stands" table is going to work in the Conference League broadcasts tonight.
In both Adelaide and Brisbane it was also notable that there were loads of Christmas events put on by the cities, completely free rather than sublet out to private companies.
Even at tourist attractions it was refreshing to not feel like everything was an opportunity to empty your pockets.
Just back from 3 weeks in Australia, and while I'm sure they have their own problems, it really highlighted the state of the UK at the moment.
Proper investment in infrastructure, pricing to encourage people on to public transport (50c per journey in Brisbane, regardless of mode or distance).

So desperate that he didn't even initially give the penalty?
canβt stop looking at this graph
That's where personal responsibility comes in, if you don't think it's safe to travel, don't.
Obviously if a pitch is unplayable (or has a high probability of being), the conditions around the actual stadium are bad, or a team can't get there, fair enough.
But do we really want to be starting to call games off if a handful of away fans might not be able to make it?
Probably my most "old man yells at clouds" view is about whether we really need to expect the whole country to grind to a halt if there's some slightly bad weather.
A lot of people willing football games to be called off because of bad roads 100 miles away or whatever.

Would imagine the South American sides would be their first choice as invitees, but after them there wouldn't be many teams with a bigger support out there I'd guess.
Chance to get further major tournament experience, and also in the same place as the World Cup which would help if we qualified. Downside is players getting a bit less rest.
Yes, but these domain names as part of handles look terrible and I'll be amazed if they're not gone within months.
Going to float a daft idea here. Due to being in a 4 team group, Scotland won't have any qualifiers in June, but will be required by UEFA to play. The CONCACAF Gold Cup takes place in the summer in USA/Canada and has a space for an invited team. Lots of downsides, but could see many benefits.
More realistically the big daft long handles will have to go
