In the German system, the professor is
- supervisor
- employer
- examiner
of "their" PhD students.
Plus, they usually function as gatekeeper to the relevant scientific community.

What can possibly go wrong? πŸ€”

A relevant property of the German system: few professors.

Only professor can examine students, apply for certain grants, sit on certain committees, ... (with minor exceptions). Privilege, sense of entitlement - and multitasking, which they're not good at, so they delegate many things to juniors.

After TrumpΒ΄s disgraceful behavior last week, we thought we need to do something to help Ukraine directly. And you can help too…

Your Contribution Squared

If one person gives a euro to Ukraine, the result is €1.

If two people give 2 each, it is €4.

If 3,000 give 3,000 each, it is 9 million.

Let’s coordinate, here πŸ‘‡

and please re-post to spread the word.

Nice idea! Perhaps you can do a "your donation cubed" next?

Each step goes
- x EUR and x^2 people;
- to (x+1) EUR and (x+1)^2 people.

This version is less constrained by people with a giving constraint. If everyone gives 100, you already have 1 million. Each EUR you give has a larger multiplier.
