Sadly,the right has immediately flunked the character test and opted instear for petty point-scoring, unfounded and reprehensible personal reflections and exacerbating division when unity is required. May they consign themselves to oblivion

In such a moment I wish all our political leaders and senior public servants wisdom, grace, courage and restraint. The ability to do bold things that are needful with dispatch but not haste, the humility to not make the moment abour them and the good sense not to overreach or oppress

words on social media are meaningless and empty yet somehow I hope that the sense that Australians are heartbroken with you, see you and love you transmute to some particle of comfort in what must be just a howling void

and also for the perpetrators’ family who will also be forever scarred by acts they did not commit

To the fifteen families and friendship groups who have suffered irremediable loss, who will always have that empty chair, the loss of that dear voice, the longing for that hug, the pain of that missed conversation and milestone events not reached or shared

Wishing the survivors recover, thrive and know joy and fun again. Triumph over evil

Australians and visitors alike showed the capacity for love and goodness is so much stronger than the capacity for hate.

Yet others admitted strangers to shelter, not knowing if they were risking death to do so. People cared for and comforted each other.

So many brave brave people of all ages and physical capacities rushed into danger to save and help others, some at the cost of their lives or serious physical injury and all at the price of mental trauma.

Wishing our Jewish community all over Australia & all residents & workers of and visitors to Bondi, all police, emergency workers, volunteers & good Samaritans attending & all Australians touched by the horror and grief of the mass murder love, solace, justice, healing & action.
