I am cheering on the Iranian uprising but I don't think that Trump should get us involved directly. I remember the Iranian Revolution and the hostage crisis in our Embassy. I remember how advanced and educated Iran was before. I sure hope it doesn't take 50 years for us throw out our dictators.
Of course, we are seeing him ignore court orders frequently. But the Supreme Court needs to " lay down the law" or the Constitution becomes irrelevant. Obviously , this supreme court has continued support trump's expansion of powers. That needs to change. Resistance is not futile.
3) the president cannot declare war. Only Congress can declare war. He cannot legally invade other countries.
2) the president cannot ignore laws. This includes things like the epstein release law that they are disobeying and eliminating funding that Congress passed as laws.
1) The president cannot create laws. He is not a king and cannot use executive orders as Royal decrees.
I think there are three unconstitutional powers that Trump claims to have that the Supreme Court needs to unambiguously stop Trump from using. There are plenty of legal cases coming to them that they could use to curb Trump. ( continued below)
I'm not saying we can't win the fight to save our democracy. But when the current news cycle includes Trump's secret police shooting and killing an American and injuring others, seizing power of foreign countries, is there any doubt we have become a fascist country ??
Discussing what's happening with my conservative neighbors is met with anger, ignorance and delusion. But more and more my liberal friends don't want to talk about it because have reached the limit of what they can handle. So this is me, unchained and unrestrained.
