I've been mostly offline recently and will likely be offline a lot going forward, because although we have many hands, there are many details to grab onto in any given moment. And my mum is, understandably, unconsolable and we need to make sure she's okay (well, as she can be right now).
This has been a week for our family. I'm at a loss for words right now, but we put together a lovely obituary for my dad, and we sent him off with love and tears today.

I've totally messed up what should be posted on which account, but anyhoo, I made things.
It would help if I could word today. I know I can make fingering weight i-cord. But would it be a good substitute? I think I might try it.
Not me over here wondering if I make fingering weight i-cord and then substitute it for Wool and the Gang Cuddle Me Softly Super Bulky. I have a suspicion this might actually work.

I'm still a bit nervous being out on it (long time since I was a cyclist), but the more I go out, the more I feel the freedom of being out of the house. I love the assist -- some days I need less, some days more, but it means I can move!
But I kept thinking, man, arthritis has made me so stiff, I need to use the curb, I'm so useless, so to here something positive about that was just what I needed right now.
This really hit home -- the e-bike was a two-fold decision, one, the doctor wanted me outside/exercising more and suggested this would be a good way to do that and run errands. At the same time, we were talking about whether to replace my very old car or not. E-bike was the replacement :-)
Thank you for this -- I just got an e-bike on doctor's advice, and I was feeling like I wasn't doing well with it because I need to use a curb to stop/mount/dismount. This makes me want to keep going with it :-)

Sarah Schira of Imagined Landscapes is doing another December Mystery Gnome -- this time it's Gnandad's Grand Adventure. The pattern is on sale right now 40% off. You bet I got it, because I've already ordered my kit. #Knit

Possibly I have more TO friends on this account,so....
Well. Just got a notification that my Shetland Wool Week Annual is on the way. Of course. Just as Canada Post returns to strike. (for the record: I don't object to workers going on strike. I know they're worried. And my SWWA will get here. Eventually.)
Sigh. I bought eyes for the Derpy I'm making for my GD. I bought them and they were sitting here on my desk and now? I'm ready to put eyes on and I cannot find them. I see that Chateau Bornais has ONE set left, and I will be making a bee-line for their booth at the KW Knitters' Fair tomorrow.
Tonight's the night! September is the beginning of the guild year, but it's not too late to join as either a full member or a social member (an excellent option if you crochet and are looking for other yarnies - my partner joined to talk crochet!).
I'd subscribed to this channel because there are lots of cool videos, and this one popped up this morning. Crocheted Jasmine Gajra:

Programming worked very hard this year to get us another round of amazing speakers -- I'm so exited to see Sarah Schira kick off the guild year! #Knitsky
I really love a tea called Puβerh Treasure. Itβs puβerh with dried ginger, dried orange peel, some kind of dried berry, and licorice root, which Iβm not supposed to have. Next up is dried orange peel. Iβll just make my own blend.
A jar of dried yellow ginger.
Okay there is no brown on these, theyβre all just lovely buttery yellow. Costco has boxes of organic Canadian ginger for $9.99, and I dried it. Mostly to add to tea. It was really lovely.

So, I *am* a K-Pop person and I still didn't think the movie was for me. And then discovered my GD was obsessed with it. And told me I should watch it. So we did, and now I'm making her a Derpy for her birthday. Along with some other really good girl-power books for the gift.
He gave me a cortisone shot to relieve the pain, and we reassess in five months. In the meantime, continue with physio and see how it goes. I suspect another knee replacement will be inevitable, it will just be a matter of how long can I hold out.
As for my actual knee issues -- doc described how a meniscus tear is actually a symptom of arthritis (this happened with my right knee). New x-ray showed arthritis has progressed. The question: can I recover from the tear and get back to where I was, or is this the downward slide towards surgery?
Well. Some good came out of the AC strike -- for me. Got a call from the surgeon's office yesterday to say, it's short notice, can you make an appointment tomorrow? I mean, yes? Who turns down a specialist appointment. Found out the reason talking to the doctor.
