together with our friends at ORCA labs, Martin Orf and our lab come out with some intricate data on how gait, speech, and neural activity relate during walking’n’talking.

The Helvetica appreciation society in the San Diego convention Center is going as strong as ever. #sfn2025 @sfn.org
Ps: shhh, why don’t you stop by our posters on Tuesday afternoon — no Helvetica, though, except on some axes.
Behaviour helps you filter your environment.
The ever-imaginative Malte Wöstmann with a new set of auditory attention/EEG results—with the very simple, very effectful twist that individuals were instructed to move freely.

Whoot. New preprint.
.. and yes, this cross-sectional finding (N>240, age 18–80) goes against our explicitly stated, initial hypothesis that older adults should lean more towards schizotypy-like patterns and stronger priors. As Popper said, kill your darlings.

Perceptual style shifts with age, with older adults tending toward more sensory-driven, ASD-like profiles—shaping how people respond to predictability and volatility in language and perception.

New data from our lab — Sarah Tune, Iris Borschke, and I come out with modelling the neural fate and the behavioural impact of single clicks in auditory decision making. Beautiful work by
@sarahtune.bsky.social — foreshadowing what is going on in the lab currently.
OMFG
(The world is in shambles, but)
We did find out that your hearing aid comes with a certain cognitive cost a priori any of the (certainly greater) benefit you will draw from it. — The pupil is a lovely, sensitive measure. Congrats to first author Markus Kemper. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
@sarahjessen.bsky.social of the Babylab @uniluebeck.bsky.social took Martin Orf and me from the @jonasobleser.bsky.social lab along an intriguing journey into the neural fate and consequences of a mother‘s voice in her infant’s brain. Under review now. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Your point is well taken. I agree that TI and AVH (in Sz) differ widely, but treating them as expressions of altered ‘metacognitive alignment’ (not a word I am using in the model) on a potential continuum is worth testing, in my view.
I hope you enjoy some of the ideas I put forward in “Metacognition in the listening brain”: Trends in Neurosciences www.cell.com/trends/neuro... — out now.

If you think I might be useful in serving as a panelist (“fachgutachter”) to the

okay, everybody’s bored by ChatGPT by now, but: still breathtaking how
(i) elaborate and erudite it refuses to help me cheat my way through a simple t-test (I tried to make it cheat for me, but it spoke of its high ethical standards. Very well),
AND
(ii) absolutely messes up the t-statistic itself.
