It was unexpected to learn in this ProPublica story that local Utah militias have a dossier on me.

They’ve shown up at my house to threaten me, so I really shouldn’t be shocked.

Gov. Cox quoted John Wesley Powell in his state of the state today to describe Utah's unique and awe-inspiring landscape. But he failed to mention Powell's quote was about Glen Canyon, and all the wonders described are now mostly under water, beneath a reservoir named after the famed explorer.

Great Salt Lake's annual average elevation in context. Salty lakes typically rise & fall a bit each year, which is good & what makes them special. Per Utah Dept of Natural Resources, GSL's healthy range is 4,198' to 4,205'. So even a record-breaking snowpack last year didn't get us anywhere close.
