Before panic sets it. The New NIH Director and Congress will want research to continue, so the machine will start up at some point. Keep writing papers and preparing proposals. AND educate the public about the key role peer review plays in science and the time and infrastructure investment needed
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
It’s worked since at least Regan. Why stop?

Got him back with 5 meds to give 5 times a day. 6 months later went to 3 meds 2x day. 9 months later no heart disease and no more meds. It does happen, but of course not typical
Best wishes. I used to be mostly pessimistic when things are looking bad. Things work out sometimes. Our beautiful @mr-jim-is-hungry.bsky.social had massive heart failure about a year ago. Had a 3 day hospitalization and a massive surgery. They told us expect at best 3-6 months.
