Happy March! βοΈ
Excited to share this paper! My co-authors and I did a deep dive into smartphone language to understand indicators of suicide risk in adolescents. One of our goals was to compare AI indicators to clinician ratings. Take a look!
π paper from @isaactreves.bsky.social @paulbloom.bsky.social @prof-nick-allen.bsky.social et al using natural language processing to detect suicide risk. They demonstrated elevations in suicidal language & negative sentiment before hospitalization in adolescents.

#InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience I checked out this book so many times my parents gave me my own copy for Christmasβ¦ 20 years later, it was at my thesis defense and now in my postdoc office. Thankful for all of the supportive women in my life that have helped make this journey successful π«Άπ»π«Άπ»
If you didnβt attend #ACNP2026 and missed this study group, check out the Perspective authored by the panelists on this topic:

I was just watching this online last night (I was registered online) and it was such a good session. Anyone who hasn't watched it yet and had access to the recordings should make sure they watch it while they still have access (before Feb 16 )
Thanks to the speakers for sharing their experiences

Diversity supplements werenβt just for folks from underrepresented racial/ethnic backgrounds. Eligibility extended to first gen college students and researchers with disabilities, among others
Cancelling these supplements limits opportunities for the next generation of scientists, as explained here

We asked the panelists, what could NIH leadership do to be more supportive of trainees with non-traditional career paths, which is common among researchers with lived experience of mental illness?
Iβm the least interesting person standing there - so inspired by our panelists! π«Άπ»
Congrats!!! πΎππ
But can they scratch their backs with them?π
Applications for our summer internship program are open. This is a paid, 9 week experience designed to provide research experience to undergraduates interested in the neurosciences, especially as related to the molecular and cellular basis of neuropsychiatric disorders

Few websites are as integral to my success as a scientist as the bookmarked website I use to tell me how old all my mice are
Just spoke to The Hill about how the dismantling of the NIH is impacting science in America. We still face a cliff of unfathomable heights, w easily 1000+ labs poised to close in the next year due to funding ending. A generation of young scientists lost because there is nowhere for them to train.
still talking about this study group - one for the books π π«Άπ»
Thank you all for an unforgettable #ACNP2026 full of cutting-edge science, insightful discussions, and positive energy!
