Wow!
Wow!
Line & wash watercolour of a curlew in flight, viewed from below. The bird is facing to the left of the image and various markings, in shades of brown, are visible on its underside. A background of variegated blue sky completes the vignette.
Here is my line & wash painting of a #curlew in flight, with thanks to the wonderful @carlbovisnature.bsky.social for the source image. #birds

I did, but don't regret for a second leaving there: BlueSky is a much nicer place to be. So glad you're here. โค๏ธ
Line and wash painting of Bruiser the one-legged blue tit perched on a fence and with his right wing in the air. Paint has been blown beyond the ends of his splayed wing feathers for dramatic effect.
I too avoid the toxic place, so haven't read the article. It would be lovely if you posted it here or on your blog so more of us can read it please. Funnily enough I was thinking about Bruiser this morning. Here's my painting of him. ๐
I've never understood why anyone would spoil perfectly good food by covering it in a cleaning product! ๐
Lovely ๐
Ours seem to have popped up overnight too!
Not surprising, it's beautiful ๐
Sounds like one for @susiedentwords.bsky.social !
Black & white linocut print featuring a rook in the foreground, with some grass and daisies, and distant hills and trees in the background.
The next test print in my #Linocut journey: Rook.
I've concluded that hand burnishing & fibromyalgia don't mix, but until I can afford a press I've worked out a method involving 'treading' the print initially & then finishing off by hand.

Monday - the clue's in the term weekEND! ๐
Love this bit of seasonal trivia. ๐

I'm hankering after a Woodzilla press, but no-one I know is well-off enough/loves me enough to buy me one! ๐
They were literally next to each other in my feed!
That's a great tree drawing. It's more a tree with Fountains Abbey in the background, than Fountains Abbey! Love it! ๐
There was a beautifully vivid sunset here in #NorthYorkshire this evening too. ๐
Did Jane Austen go to Hutton-le-Hole?!
Richard Coles doesn't post here much either, but I've found he's taken to posting more on Instagram so at least I get to see him there.
I love the atmosphere here, it's so much nicer, but I wish Gyles Brandreth would make the switch; I miss his random ramblings!
Gorgeous shot, would make an excellent Christmas card!
Stunning seasonal cuteness! ๐

I'm just getting into linocut too - it's so satisfying isn't it? โค๏ธ
Great tip, thanks ๐
Just found this gem of an independent second-hand #bookshop. Well worth a follow, and there's still time to get your orders in before #Christmas if you're quick!
Black and white linocut print of a stylised mint plant in a wooden container, with representations of ivy and gravel in the lower part of the image.
Here it is: I call it 'Minty Garden'. It's just cheap water based black ink on printer paper, as it's a test. My intention is to use decent paper and Payne's grey Caligo Safe Wash.
Just a test print I did last night - I'll go and take a pic.
Hi Carl, it's a male Mandarin. Do you have any photos of females? I love their understated beauty.
Watercolour line and wash painting of a small single-storey building in a mock Tudor style, with multiple gables and entrances.
It's not this year, it's another from our visit to Aldeburgh in 2021. In Aldeburgh, even the public toilets are architecturally pleasing!
But the most important question is, of course, is that Colin or Cuthbert?!
I'm just getting into linocut and absolutely love it! ๐
