Nobody masks anymore and I’m no longer willing to lay my body down for people who can’t even inconvenience themselves to keep others safe during ongoing pandemic and disability crisis.
I have found my niche, but several failures were required to get there.
A piece of advice I wish I had given myself earlier: It's better to walk out of tents big enough for certain brands of assholes and cowards. I do better working in small organizations.
Also, in general, bail funds, abortion funds, and mutual aid groups are places where a little bit of money goes a long way toward concretely improving people's lives.
So...poking through, I think the lack of knowledge of small things that can be done to help communities/the environment/etc is a barrier. Organizing is daunting. Protesting is daunting. Prepping seedlings for a habitat restoration group, for example? Less daunting.

I can't get seriously involved with any group that doesn't mask up. I know they won't take a LOT of concerns seriously if they don't do a very simple, relatively cheap thing to *try* to protect people's health and security. not gonna put my health at risk for people who don't give a shit about it.
