TIL you can set a variable to the output of a try-catch and use it as a Boolean for an if statement. It’s so incredibly simple and it looks dumb, but it works.

At this point regular Brawl is my main format. All of my Standard Brawl decks are just “Limited Archetype: The Deck”.

Standard Brawl? You mean Block Constructed Singleton. My spaceship cards go in my spaceship deck and my cowboy cards go in my cowboy deck.

If I’m feeling extra spicy, I might even match up the lands for aesthetic.

The ability to have “modes” on your commander and transition from value-engine to game-ender is understated. Keeping it as just an artifact until you’re ready to start swinging serves as good protection too.

I’ve played close to 30 games with Hearthhull, the Worldseed in Brawl. The matchmaking system is definitely pairing it against too low a tier of commanders. I don’t think I’ve lost a game yet and the only one that felt close was when I kept a one-land hand.

Initial impressions -

Weftstalker Ardent and Red Tiger Mechan curve out great.

Nova Hellkite should be a mythic.

Pinnacle Emissary is fun to combo with Weftstalker.

Endstone is bonkers value.

Virulent Silencer was pure discard fodder.

Melded Moxite was good mid-game recovery tech.

Luck beats skill every time! Went 7-1 with this monstrosity

Definitely need to prioritize more instant speed draws and interaction to free up my mana dorks for Station on my turn.

Started putting together a pre-EOE deck for Xolatoyac in Brawl to get a feel for the flow of the commander. This deck is going to be slow, but cool as hell when it comes online.

Calling it now - Station into Web-Slinging is going to be sweet for control decks.
