Someone whose only income is the state pension is below the £12,570 income tax threshold, but for how long?
They still pay council tax, VAT, excise duties, environmental levies and other indirect taxes.
Doesn't mean that there will be any real change.

Higher taxes on wages and lower taxes on return on wealth predate the current Labour govt. The poorest paying a higher proportion of income in taxes than the richest predates the current Labour govt. That said, Starmer's Labour is perpetuating the same.
